The Castle In the Sky

The upcoming event The Castle in the Sky is a new one for Rage of Bahamut. The event will be similar to Tears of the Moon but with a bit of a twist.

Players during this event will be required to raise a fairy. Its a sort of group enhancement project which is just really strange. The fairy is your orders personal god during this event and you will be required to sacrifice to it in order to increase its power. Everybody in your order will receive a reward for developing the fairy.

Other than the fairy function The Castle in the Sky functions identically to Tears of the Moon. A player will move through a tower defeating bosses as they move up the tower in an attempt to get closer to their fairy. While progressing through the tower the player will gain treasures of colors relating to their realm. To complete a treasure set the player will have to attack people to steal the colored treasure that they are missing. Once the treasure is complete the player will receive a limited edition rare card for the treasure. Once all treasures are completed and a player reaches the top of the tower through questing they will get another limited edition card. If I'm not mistaken it's Phantom Theif Lupin who's art suggests he's awesome, but his stats are lackluster at best.

The key of this event is to gather cards through questing in the towers to sacrifice to your fairy which is what will create order rank. Individual rank will be based on tower progression where the order rank will be based on Fairy progression.

This is a huge improvement over Tears. Previously players may have noted that I found Tears to be an awful event as far as reward payout vs what you needed to spend. Since players will receive rewards for both order and individual rankings this may actually end up worth it.

Keys to being successful during this event:

1) Gather a lot of clear water to progress through the tower.

2) Identify the cost vs gain of which cards to sacrifice. Where newer players may only sacrifice normal cards, players like me may sacrifice rares/hr to increase stats. Also look at the Bazaar for cards like Puppet Master which are only 4HP for a HR.

3) The Fairy card isn't worth it. The fairy card costs 35HP right now at the Bazaar. You can purchase seven Puppet Masters for that price. She has a max of offering 3x the points of a HR (so three Puppet Masters). Cards like Pop star may actually be useful for this as well depending on how many points are given based on rarity.

4) Treasure/Referral cards cannot be sacrificed according to an important note I read below the fairy card description.

Finally, I think part of this event is to remove some of the cards from the market. Currently cards are dropping to just ridiculous prices because people just aren't buying them but their still coming out of packs.

  1. Lol I pulled my first ssr card Odin out of the rewards pack from hw and also pulled the hr fairy. Should I sell off the fairy and get some cheaper hrs for the next event. And is it worth buying the hr cards when I'm in such an inactive guild.

  2. Really inactive guild. I wouldn't buy them. But I would liquidate that Fairy, they're going at a premium.

What I would recommend trying since you have time is listing it for trade with something like a NM, Clay, or Apsara.

  5. The cheapest HR card is pretty Archangel Queen or a treasure card. Wouldn't it make sense to buy these and donate them to the fairy?

A similar line of logic is to buy Angel Queens at 1 HP and donate those. In this way, even newer players could donate HR and Rare cards. Correct me if I'm mistaken...

    1. Treasure cards can't be donated and I'm better AQ can't either.

Newer players can but 1HP is a lot to newer players and it's more important for them to use it to buy rares for their deck than to get the order .01% higher.

  6. Just wondering if u will b able to donate 10 cards into the fairy at once like normal enhancement, if u could would the hr fairy give x3 to the whole enhancement.

    1. I believe it works like enhancement.

That is the only way I could see Fairy being remotely worth it but I don't believe it works that way from the description.

    1. She's going to be a top ranked reward, not a tower progression. Phantom Thief Lupin is the tower progression if I'm not mistaken.

  8. So if the idea could also be to get rid of a lot of cards by sacrifising them. It could be interesting to buy a lot of HR and up for ridicoulous prices and sell them after the event for the prices they are really worht. It could be a much more intersting way to gain huge amounts of hp. With a bit of luck you can buy for 5-10hp and sell for 15-25hp.

    1. I really wish it worked like that, but it won't. Players will wait until they drop again and other players than you will happily undercut you if you price them up.

I really hope it works out that way, but I just don't think it will.

  9. Price has been tanking ridiculously these days. if this keeps up buying any cards will be like buying a car - the second you drive out of the lot you already lost 1/3 of the value and you'll never recover it. What's gonna happen if this continues??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Pretty much what will happen is people will stop spending real money on the game because they won't be seeing a good return on their real money spent.

It will also be easy to make crappy card HR/SR decks but the same difficulty to make good card HR/SR decks. It will create a gap between the haves and the have nots. Especially since later on these players liquidate their cards and can't get enough HP to be useful during HW.

  10. What do you think about Shield Angel? It's got a nice stat and skill boost to Rhea which is basically the best you can do under a God's rare deck. Do you think it's worth it to upgrade to Shield Angel or just try to go straight to Apsara? Obviously Apsara is a much better card stat and skill wise but it's also almost 5x the cost

    ReplyDelete
  11. Is prices dropping really a bad thing?

I think the price drops are good because it gives everyone easier access to the cards they like.

Even though the cards you want to sell is losing value, so is ever other card. So you'll get the cards you want easier as well. This benefits everyone.

    1. I could go into the real world economic factors that are imitated and why it translates to open economy games but instead I'll make it simple.

There are two types of assets, frozen and liquid. Hp/Cw are your liquid assets and cards are your frozen assets. You can look at this two ways: 1) The value of the frozen assets are decreasing, or 2) the value of the liquid assets are increasing. Both are actually happening.

The way you're viewing it is frozen assets are decreasing so you'll be able to purchase more with your HP.

One of the the downside is high level players lost a huge amount of HP when their frozen assets lost tons of value. I paid 300HP for my Temp Vampire. Currently I have to sell her for 200 to liquidate her. I lost 100HP.

Finally, the worst issue: Players who purchase card packs get screwed and this pricing encourages them not to buy card packs and encourage the game. Forcing developers to find other ways to force us to spend money.

Player spends $10 on card packs. Players gets two Vampire Lords and a Berserker. Under the current economy that is about 15HP. Not worth $10 is it? Now they stop buying, and Mobage/Cygames finds ways to force us to spend money.

      Delete
    2. First off, I should start by saying that you have a great site. I like the advices you give to the players.

      Now back on topic.

Normally, I am all for the developers making money. When I first got this game, I put down $60 after the first week just because I felt this was a good game.

But the more I played, the more I realized just how bad Cygames' business ethics is. I love the game and the cards, but I hate the company. The way they try to squeeze every drop out of their consumers without putting any real effort to give back is what made me turn against them.

In the end, the main goal of this event is to increase prices of cards, which means that they will be harder to obtain, which leads to consumers needing to buy card packs... I for one am against this.

However, I do understand the frustration people feel when their cards lose value, just like your Temptress Vampire. But the thing is, all cards are losing value. Every card that is the equivalent of Temptress Vampire lost the same value so in short, everyone is still left at the same point they once were.

The main difference is, beginners have easier access to decent HR cards and allows them to build stronger decks at half the time.

At least, that's just how I see this.

      Delete
    3. Beginners may have an easier time gaining low level HR cards, you'll notice that most of the high level HR cards maintain their values.

Honestly losing the 100HP isn't a huge deal to me. What I find most frustrating is getting a HR from a claim pack is supposed to be fun and exciting. There are about 6 HR worth anything in the game so most peoples reaction is annoyance. I have an order member in my alts order who spend 80HP on the HW, that order barely missed top 300. He got a vampire lord and a berserker. He lost HUGE on the HW. I spent 60HP on that account (about 130 on my main account). I got a claymore maid and an Ifrit, so I gained. (Had some of the people who spent 20HP been booted before hand we would have cleared top 300 and his investment would have been worth it though)

That's why right now you're seeing a lot of people frustrated at card prices. As card price decreases, the rewards from HW/Events decrease in value as well but the amount of HP/CW to do well doesn't decrease.

      Delete
    4. this is a good debate from both sides. I would just like to point out that since everyone has less HP, the amount to do well SHOULD also decrease. I just hate to see all my cards lose value SO FAST. Seriously wraith now goes for less than 25? come on.

I know anything might happen if this keeps up, maybe even something no one expected. just curious as to what everyone thinks.

The main culprit is really the bazaar and the limited amount of tickets. people HAVE to undercut others because (lets say SR cards) they only get 1 shot per day to sell it. This vicious cycle sets a new lower price point *everyday*. So cards never appreciate.

      Delete
    5. True, I would be curious to see what would happen if the ticket number increased or was removed.

I would think that the amount of HP spent would decrease but my order spent more HP than it did last HW and performed worse, so I can't quite explain it other than there are people who are reaching a deck they are comfortable with and just stockpiling HP after.

      Delete
  12. Prices will equalize over time. two hp events just ended so everyone is selling cards now and it is a buyers market. But that won't last. And i don't think they are simply trying to push people to buy cards, because the whole bazaar made it EASIER to get cards, not harder. And newer players will have hp to spend into the market. I think for those of us who are veterans it's frustrating but the changes have lowered the barrier to entry into competitivness for newer players and once everyone exhausts their stages of hp and cw the events will be much more fair and won't require 3000 cw to rank high.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The reason for the bazaar wasn't entirely to make it easier for people to get cards. It was to deal with the mammoth hacking issue that was occurring.

Also, competitiveness isn't really based around your deck in this game, it's based around HP. I can rank more highly with a 60k attk/defense deck than I can an 80k attack/defense deck if I have more HP. If nothing else the current inability for new players to gain HP has made the competitive barrier tougher to break through.

    1. Well, use the bazaar for current card prices. Scroll through and check them out for the cards you're selling. Otherwise I tend to use GameFaqs if I need anything on a forum.

Otherwise to gain HP, post in your order that you are selling feeder service and to each of your fellows that you are selling feeder service and get a regular buyer.

  14. Hi! your page is very useful to beginners like me. I have one question, to sacrifice cards to the fairy, is necesary evolve the cards? I mean, can I sacrifice a pirate or pirate+? or I wait until evolve it at max?

  15. IMO What kills this game is the introduction of Personal HP. As a reward from the game developers :( This means they are effectively forcing you to buy card packs to get HP you can actually trade with.

  16. The state of the economy is very bad in the game, and I am speaking from a newer players point (been playing for about three months now)and it is crazy to see cards like Jorg or Sut down to these prices, I know cheaper player are happy but it really is hurting the game, people need to stop the under cutting, or see the game slide to a point it wont recover.

    1. The ranking is based on donations. I purged all my donatable cards outside of some HR and I was still pretty low.

Also, first couple days people will be purging their saved rares and then it will level out so right now it seems you'd have to spend a lot but may reduce. Either tomorrow or Wednesday I'll post what I think the investment will be for which rank.

  19. My question is do you think the market is going to rebound or should I take my losses and sell my Sutekh? I got it in a card pack about 10 days ago and I have tried to sell it twice but the prices have been dropping so fast that it doesnt sell. When I got it they were selling for 185 so I tried selling it for 182, then they dropped to 170 so I tried selling it for 167..wouldnt sell. Now they are selling for 150, should I cut my losses and take the 150? I mean, in the end I got it from a CP so it is already a win.

    1. It's not a heavily desired card anymore with the numerous other cards released.

What I would recommend trying first is put it up a couple times for trade for a few highly sought after cards. For example I might put it up for trade for 2 Lancelots. Most people wouldn't take that trade but a demon player who has them might. Or One lance and 100HP. Then I'd liquidate the lance since it moves faster.

I don't think the market will level out for most cards. There are cards that are just simply not sought after.

  20. what would be the good place to stop putting stat points into stam? I'm currently lv 51 and have atk/def at 100 each. I'v been putting all points into stam for this event atm, and I'm at 163 stam now.

I just have evolved Rs so my atk/def points are fine for now, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to put every points I get into stam as I expect to level several times more during the event.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I stopped my stam at 155. My Defense at 140, and the rest of my points I'm putting into attack.

I have a strong preference to being able to attack multiple times because it gives me the most bang for my buck in HP. Putting a lot of points in stam is a mistake unless it's a feeder account.

My advised stats are 120-180 stamina, 120-160 defense, and the rest in attack. If you're a defense leader the priorities change.

  21. Put it into attack the more u can attack the better ppl will use mc to protect their treasure and if u have only 1 attack u will burn through your hp quickly to stay on par.

  22. Any thoughts on the ??? levels and gathering cards there? I'm getting VERY little return from each CW expended. In fact I blew through 3 earlier today and recieved not one card. It was all coin and treasures (which I already completed).

And then when I do get cards it's 15s and 25s and the slimes are few and far between. It's really getting difficult to increase my score in any measurable way.

Checking the market it's 1HP or 2 CW to pick up a rare for 100 points, but that seems like a gamble because HOPEFULLY in 2 CW I should grab at least one slime...

I'm ~80 or so CWs in so far and between 5000-6000 on the rankings. It's going to be very challenging to get under the 5k mark, let alone under the 3k mark for the Hekate...

    Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh and I'm at 204 Stamina so I'm an even multiple of 12 to maximize gains per CW.

      Delete
    2. My current thought on this event is that if you can hit under the 3k for Hekate it's probably worth it. Getting under 1k seems a lot less profitable. Remember that CW has 1/2 the value of HP so for your current reward you've spent 40HP.

Hekate will yield a high sales value even with the couple thousand on the market so as long as you can hit her in under 400CW spent overall I think it will be profitable.

      Delete
    3. This is not entirely true. You can get 1 CW for a slime or probably 1 hp for one and 2 HP per HN w/ skill set. The event it totally not worth it.

      10000 points = 100 slimes which is 50 hp.

The guy in first place has 232,000 points so that's roughly 2,320 slimes, or 1160 hp. You could buy the rewards and have left over HP with that number.

      Delete
    4. I never do the math based on first place, I generally try to aim for the reward zone.

That being said if you can hit Hecate reward for under 400CW it's a huge gain. If it costs 800CW you're still breaking even or better, if you are spending 1200CW you're probably losing a couple hundred HP on the event.

Of course this is partially based on stamina. I keep my stamina at 155 so these events are never good for me.

      Delete
  23. Yeah I guess I'm still new enough that these numbers of HP/CW seem to be a huge expense.

    1. Well, when you consider that Rob probably has 1 million active players, being in the top 3000 should be a tough achievement.

  25. Is it just me, or is Lupin the worst S Rare in RoB? I'm so annoyed that there's finally an event I can compete in and I get an S Rare that costs twice as much to evolve than an HR but has mediocre stats at best. And the order rewards for this event are just an absolute slap in the face. I really can't see how Cygames is not pushing people off the game... rant over.

On a positive note, Mystic Fairy and Ancient Fairy are both really nice cards. It'll be a while before I can full evo any of them, but they do at least seem to be releasing nice new cards.

Maybe all these new cards are an attempt to create a trickle down to new users, but like I know you've said before, it's useless if upper tier players are selling off their old cards but new and middle tier players have no way of making HP to buy them at reduced prices. This whole event just makes me grumpy... rant really over.

    1. Here's where I say it's not that bad because previous CW events had no order reward so this is still an improvement.

I never participate in CW events because I only have 155HP. Most people use their feeder accounts with 600stam for these events. Lupin has awful stats for its rarity but ok stats for its price of 17-20HP, and awesome art.

It is a shame that they couldn't have given the card HR status so it'd at least be easier to skill up.
