Card skills will play a large role in which ones players choose to attain. They also play a huge role in the value. For example the recently released cards Apsara vs Chimaera. Both are defensive orientated cards but since Chimaera offers a Big Hit to Demons Attack it is worth significantly less. Apsara offers a Big Boost to Gods Defense, the player can control which cards are in his/her defense deck, but cannot control the alignment of those attacking.
The way this chart reads is it breaks the percent buff/debuff offered based on whether it is a small/medium/big/great/massive/absolute. The Affects column refers to whether or not it is a type 1 (man/god/demon specific), All, or Self and the percent buff/debuff changes based on that information. Finally it states whether or not the skill is attack related, defense related, or both. For example, Inugami offers a Big Attack/Defense Boost to Demons, this means she will apply an 8% increase. Nightmare offers a Big Attack Boost to Demons, this means she will apply a 13% increase.
These numbers are applied before skill boosting (leveling up a skill through enhancement). The chart is also not complete since some percentages are so negligible they don't matter (small) or because they are not seen on cards currently (self attack only buff).
By enhancing a card with other cards that have skills a player has a chance of increasing a cards skill level. Each skill level gained increases the potency of the card by 1% capping at skill lvl 10, or 10%. Most player achieve this by buying high normal cards and enhancing their card with nine of them in order to gain a skill level. The percent chance of gaining a skill level is changed based on the rarity of the card being used as the enhancer, the number of enhancers, and the rarity/skill level of the card being enhanced. For example, if a player attempts to use nine high normal skilled cards to enhance an SSR the percent chance of increasing from lvl 1 to lvl 2 would only hit around 12%. To increase from lvl 5 to lvl 6 would be near 2% if that.
The card Devil Queen gives a 50% chance to increase a cards skill level no matter what. These are often used to enhance high rarity cards to save on time and money.
hello lucarda,
ReplyDeleteso on the self boost, if you have 3 same cards on the deck and one of them did the self boost skill; is that mean the other 2 get the boost too?
if yes, then what happen when 2 of the same cards do the self boost? do the skill stack?
thank you.
Nope. Self boosts aren't stacking boosts. They only effect that card. So, if you had 3 cards with self boosts, and all three trigger, each of those cards still only gets their own boost.
DeleteIf you have 3 cards in the deck and only the one triggers, that card gets the boost, the other four do not.
Question for you Lucarda,
ReplyDeleteWhy would someone value a fafner over tiamat? I get the debuff to all vs gods, but when you go against big boys with God defense decks which have the best defense Tia is way better than fafner. IMO Tiamat hurt the best defense decks way more. Just curious how you feel about it.
Rarity. Fafner was only available as an event reward, Tiamat is an ongoing card.
DeleteOn top of this designing your deck around one specific alignment doesn't help when all of a sudden you're up against a Man Defense Deck.
Personally I don't value Fafner or Tiamat that much given Fafners relatively low attack in final form and Tia's poor debuff.
3 Nightmares, 2 Trow. After that, Hydra to support wings cards for defense and wing cards for offense with a decent Anti-Demon debuff.
I've got a question. Im starting the process of moving from an all hr to a sr/hr deck. Im man realm. So my question is is it better to debuf the enemy def or to boost my att. Ps im an attacker
ReplyDeleteSR+ offensive decks for man. Batrazx5 is the best possible offensive deck.
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking boosting your attack is better because you can have man realm specific buff vs an (All) realm debuff. This difference is normally 5%.
You can also use 3 Claymore Maids skill 10 and 2 Yuki's for an inexpensive offensive deck that is near unbeatable by a defense.
That's kinda how I was leaning. My current deck is 2x 4x7 skill 10 maids 2x sektor and ff master Sam. My boosted att is pretty good but im looking for the extra edge. I was thinking about yuki because of the high att and low cost but during hw when you mostly have def leaders as man or god realm he doesn't help much. Didn't know if maybe Tristan would give me the edge over def leaders that buff
ReplyDeleteTristain is pretty weak out of an S Rare. His Debuff is 10% and his attack is 17.6k as a 4-7. Claymore is 13% buff, and 17.4k.
DeleteI'm taking the extra 3% vs 200attack any day of the week.
For the real extra edge if you run across a full Arthur/Lance defense lead, attack random people outside of HW to gain the 30% attack buff, then take him down.
hey lucarda ... i hear they just update on the chart about skill % i think its up from 8% to 10% for med buff ... can you double check on that to see if they change anything else...
Deletethank you.
Yeah, i need to update a lot of stuff on the site. I've just been really busy lately. I'm hoping to get to it this week along with 3-4 new posts on SR/SSR decks and Puppetmaster event.
DeleteHey I have a question about the skills of a card. Does leveling a skill makes the boost percentage higher?? Let's say I have a claymore skill level 5 and another claymore level 2. How does that affect the boost the card gives? Is there any difference of the percentage? Hope I made myself clear.
ReplyDeleteEach level gives an additional 1% in power to the boost, but not an additional percentage in chance for it to go off.
DeleteI have been looking into on forums that the level 10 skill gives an additional 1% but nobody is willing to screenshot me evidence of it.
So a Claymore skill level 5 will give an additional 5% boost so 18%. Claymore Level 2 will give 15% boost.
So if I have a paladin skill level 10 and a Longuinus skill level 1 (per say) as defense. Would my paladin defense boost would be as effective as Longuinus skill level 1? This keeping on mind that paladin stats go up to 15k and Longuinus 20k defense. Just wondering because is much easier to level up the skill in a hr card than a Sr card.
DeleteI thought level 1 gives 13%. SO isn't it that level 5 gives 17% and not 18%?
DeleteYa drake you're right. I find myself doing that every now and then still.
DeleteI even have a post on how people are constantly making that mistake somewhere in the blog. I'm not exempt to that rule.
Hey Lucarda a general question regarding skills.... Lots are unclear;/
ReplyDeleteRaising a card's skill, increases its power % to the boost/debuff it does. What about the chance for it to trigger during a battle? How can you increase a card's chance to activate its skill (if there's a way to do so).
Let's say i have an Iseult 8-16 evoed - does the number of cards it took to evolve it to it's final form matter at all?
Also, I know that supposedly cards have a higher chance to trigger skills when they match your realm but I've seen (for example) a God realm player have 3 demon cards and they all activate VS mine (man realm) with an all man deck have only 1 card activate...
Any light in this would be appreciated lots. Thx :D
Hey just saw your question. And as far as I know, the number of cards used to get a final form card doesn't have anything to do with the skill going of.
DeleteIf all your cards match your realm you get a 5%boost on defense I believe. And some cards skill will go off even if they don't match your realm.
For what I know about skills going off more effectively is this, card in the middle of the deck has a 100% chance to go off (it always does) cards on the side is 50% chance of skill going off and the ones at the end is 25% chance. Try to rebuild your deck putting skilled cards you want to go off in the first 3 spaces. If u want issuelt to give boost to defense. Place it in the middle. =) hope it helped.
There are a lot of myths about a cards skill triggering. My personal favorite if you set your card to leader it will go off more often. All of these are myths. The chance of it going off is purely based on the order you place it in your deck.
DeleteThe first card you place has 100% chance, 2nd card has a 70% chance, 3rd 50%, 4th 30%, 5th 20%. Or something close to those percentages.
The way this looks when the attack occurs:
4-2-1-3-5
What about event skills such as Yeti's "White Fluff"? How would the card order affect the activation chance?
DeleteSo if I have a paladin skill level 10 and a Longuinus skill level 1 (per say) as defense. Would my paladin defense boost would be as effective as Longuinus skill level 1? This keeping on mind that paladin stats go up to 15k and Longuinus 20k defense. Just wondering because
ReplyDeletemuch easier to level up the skill in a hr card than a Sr card.
If you have a skill level 10 Paladin it beats the snot out of a Longi. Paladin would be 23% Boost vs Longi's is 10%.
DeleteEven a skill level 10 Longi only hits 20% buff and I would say pally is a better leader card in that case.
Longi is a good card, but Lancelot is what you should be aiming for.
OK cool thanks. I'm really looking to get Longuinus in defense deck along with one paladin and a Lancelot. But then is Lancelot buff higher than Longuinus if they are in skill level 10? If that's the case I may just aim for Lancelot n paladin with a higher skill level. Thx for your help.
ReplyDeleteLancelots and Paladins buffs are both higher than Longis.
DeleteLance 15
Pally 13
Longi 10
I just want to ask. If we enhance the card to increase skill level, is the percentage to increase the skill level have the same concept of increasing card level?
ReplyDeleteFor example you get 50% to increase the skill level. Is it 50% chance or we increase it by 50% ?
50% chance. Getting skill ups is harder than leveling.
Deletehey there wanna ask how does hit to defense all works? i heard many people telling different formulas. please enlighten me and is there link/source to this formula?
ReplyDeleteLook at the graph above for the % boosts. Those percentages have been checked and verified through testing by several players.
DeleteI don't know where you've heard people telling you many different formulas but outside a question regarding whether Atk/Def ALL is 5% or 10% under heading Great is the only question I've ever heard of.
My current understanding though is its additive when multiple proc vs multiplicative.
as in hit to defense is calculated from the base of opponent's deck or overall hit after the two 5% boost to opponent deck(but before opponent defense deck boost)?
DeleteNot sure.
Delete10% of 5% though is .5% difference so it's negligible. Your fights will most likely not be decided based on that math but based on which cards activate and the skill levels of those cards.
If you get into a battle where .5% is going to make the difference I would be shocked.

DeleteHey Lucarda, I'm just confused since by default each card's skill level is already Level 1. Does it mean that it already has an added 1%? Example for Succubus, so initially its giving me 11% increase to demons atk, since its already in level 1 by default?
ReplyDeleteNo additional 1%. But I've been told by several people that the final level yields 2%, making it a full 10% bonus to go to level 10.
DeleteTo the charts rule a dark knight luci with a a skill of great hit to all atk/def would be 5% Iv done a test with a level 2 skill leave an it give 13% so level 1 would be 12% I assume how trusted did u say this info was? Try a dark knight for ur self it's defo not 5%
ReplyDeleteThe buff is 10% on DK lucy. This chart came out right when she was released and that was the only untested number. The rest of the chart is correct.
DeleteYou're probably either not counting order boost or realm boost in conjunction with a debuff which is what is resulting in the odd 13/12%
Do skill stack for defence? Also what would you recommend HR defense card for demons Lucas? I was thinking 1 wraith and 4 bloody mistress. I know paly is real good but I wanna stick to my realm. And thx
ReplyDelete1 Wraith 4BM is currently the optimal. If you want a little higher base though and cheaper pricing you can stack 1 Wraith, 2 BM, and 2 Temp Vamp.
ReplyDeleteYou will end up paying more for the demon realm defense.
Awesome blog, thank you its been hard to find an actual accurate source for info and strategy. looking at chart percentages I'm not understanding why a big boost to realm 13% is better than a big boost to self at 25%. unless the boost applies to all cards of the realm or because you can stack the big boost all on top of one card. Could you please enlighten me. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteBoosts to realm effect ALL cards in that realm in the deck. Self boosts only apply to that one card.
DeleteThat's why realm boosts are preferred.
With the new cards coming out (ie, big boost to god/demon atk), where would those percentages fall? I was assuming it would be the same as a specific realm boost to atk/def, like inugami for example.
ReplyDeleteHonestly. I think it will be a partial degrade. Instead of the normal 5% drop in effectiveness it will be a 2-3% drop in effectiveness.
DeleteHey Lucarda. I know a HR is 13%, but what about HRs with dual realm buffs?
ReplyDeleteSince ALL drops it down to 8%, I assume 2 of them would be either 10 or 11%. I'm not sure though sorry :(
DeleteOk my question isn't really related to skill but you seem to know what you're talking about lucarda, so I'll ask it anyway. Should I go 7-12 with my trow elf or go 4-7 and sell 3 of my elves and go for other cards?
Delete4-7 will be easier to sell down the road. Personally, I've been doing 4-7s with everything that I plan on selling within a certain time. Otherwise I say 6max. I don't advise going above a 6 card evo because the payout of what you're putting in is so low.
DeleteI appreciate your response. I do want to inform you that I tested a level 1 demonic knight and believe you are correct in your assumption in the skill (big boost to god/demon atk) starts at 10%, not the 8% I thought it would.

ReplyDeletewas there ever an update which decreased the chances of skill activation by similar cards? I noticed people started selling apsaras n diversifying their def decks, even at the cost of less skill ability (boost to gods vs boost to all)
ReplyDeleteYes there was an update that decreased skill activations. Since skill activation works on a waterfall system it looked like this before with 5 Apsara:
Delete100%
50% until a card procs
25% until a card procs
Now 5 Apsara would look like this:
100%
25% until a card procs
12.5% until a card procs
thank u, I missed that update. does that trend apply to any skills or just similar cards? if i have apsara, shield angel, eos...will they proc at 100-50-25 or 100-25-12.5?
ReplyDeleteOnly the same card, not the similar skills.
DeleteFor example both Trow Elf and Ifrit have buffs to god attack, but their skills have different names.
In your example, all will proc at 100, 50, 25.

ReplyDeleteHello Lucarda,
ReplyDeleteI need your advice on skills in term of hp. Lets say there is a chiron ff (SR) for 30 hp skill 3 and then there is another with skill 7 for 58 hp. Is 4 skills worth 19 hp? Or can u tell me how much approximately would u pay for 1 skill? (talking about ff SR or ff SSR max. Your answer would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi Lucarda, tnx for the awesome blog!
ReplyDeleteI have a question regarding event skills: Is the boost from e.g Ulster Lancer (medium boost to dmg against Goblin King) better during current event, than for instance Santa's Elf (medium boost to dmg against large bosses)? Or are the two boosts identical?
Its identical.
