Puppet Master Update

I remember when I was playing during Roar of the Dragons a while back and thought it was really great that as a new player I was accumulating so many cards so quickly. Back then I was getting tons of golden dragons and gathering high normals to sell for HP. I thought it was the coolest event the way dragons would come down and you'd be constantly fighting them for a reward.

Now that I'm a more tenured player, I realize I HATE this event. It requires huge amounts of attention and feels more like a grind to me than any other event. The beauty of the Tears of the Moon event, I can just play for an hour and burn through CW if I want to do well. During Holy War I can burn through tons of HP during one Holy War to boost my Orders rank and then take the day off.

The Puppet Master just feels more like a grind than any other event to me.

Anybody else feeling this way?

  1. Greetings Lucarda :)

This is the first time I am posting a comment. Hope you like reading it as I loved reading your blog for weeks already (always checking for updates haha).

Well, I am depriving of quality sleep these few days as the Golem grinds my time, and fried my brains alive! And my poor eyes are swelling already... You're rite, I did love hitting the Golem at first until it became so hard to even scratch it. SIGH...

Have you analysed how well the Eld Homunculus perform? I bet a post of this will takes in lots of readership :P Haha... With EH, that's the ONLY way one can do more damage to the GM! But it's so expensive - probably only high ranked players can afford :( too bad for the low enders...

I heard that getting a FF does extra lots of damage, how true and how come there is no information about the percentage of damage like for the skill effect?? Probably not worth the time while many others are grinding the event to obtain cute cards such as homunculus, harpies, hobbits, golems and also the high homunculus that blocks attack (so much more effective compared to hobbit or others)..

So this is the event like... so any counter comments from you, Master? :) Thanks!

    1. My understanding is that if you get a FF Elder H. to level 6 it will hit somewhere around 5x damage. A FF at lvl 1 does about 3x damage is my understanding.

The issue I have is that even in the top spot it triggers randomly. I believe it's under 20% of the time from what I've heard from people who own it.

    2. Thank you for the precise explanation Lucarda :) Appreciates it. Am liking all the Homunculus now. Hope they'll be around after Puppet Master leaves the scene! :P

Getting FF Elder Homun is really too expensive, not sure if it's worth it. Realised the rewards for this event is not that great either i.e. for the average players.

Hey, Lucarda, I hope you're doing great! :)

Best of lucks and great attacks on the Golems and Clays.

    3. Well, the Elder h. is a good thing..
people don't realize that event cards are really cheap to buy and the results are great cuz in the end of the event (the last day) you can sell your cards for a high price, more than you obtained them and you are in the first positions..
I'm one of the players who will get the ss rare card with less effort and i'll get my hps back in the last day by selling it in bazzar for a higher price..
well, I love this Event!!! ^^

all i have to do is to go all out in 1-3 hours to get in the first positions, that's great!

      thank you!

    4. Wow... this scenario sure sounds ideal and great! I thought the price of event cards plummet down when event finishes... but gotta be extra rich to buy all event cards in advance.

    5. Elder Homunculus and Zhuque wasn't selling like rocket high prices when the event was going to end; instead it plummets into the range of 5hp and the versions sold was the MAX version! Especially Zhuque, so many players felt the card sucks.. So I guessed the predictions that these cards will rise in price was not true after all... SIGH...

      Delete
    6. Yeah, I was going to mention that the selling price for those cards tend to taper off hard as everybody tries to dump them last two days. Generally about 1/2 way through the event is when I try to get rid of a card if I can.

But considering I'm not psychic and could have been wrong I didn't want to give you misinformation.

    8. To sell it for a good price you had to sell it on saturday.. people were just crazy to get ranked up.. you could see people selling homunculus for 90hps to 120hps.. and elder homunculos were at 6-8 hps before events..
zuque was a gamble, this card, like this new holy war that is comming was made to force people that were in a good ranking to spend more money with hps.. but i could buy some of them for 10hps in the event..
Well, I think this event was great, I spent about 250 hps and got the SS rare, so I think it was worth it.

    9. Thanks for your replies Lucarda and Dumsys - didn't expect you would re-check this thread and responded.. Lucarda, I find it hard to track old threads and those that were responded. I have to search for them manually... The # of comments only indicates new updates of posts but not where they were located.

Re: homunculus, I'm stuck with so many now... Could make them a swing God card (thank god!). Ranking wasn't high enough to even earn the HR on Sat if I dumped it, then I can only settle for AQs... Zhuque only came in later when i bought a few and then the event finishes with only once the wight show up! Grrr....

I did not see EH selling for 90-120hps!! Wow... this must be the prime time to earn lots of hps and especially when all of the sudden HW is just around the corner...

      Thanks!

  2. Every ones saying the golem hr is shite but I just did a 6-7 evo and the stats r like chinema 11644-15233 or near that I don't have the card on hand. I have spent over 50hp so far and I'm just in the top 5000 I think the lower end prizes r better then any other event so far though.
I have the first eld homunculus and when it activates it boosts dmg by about 10k I don't know the ff form though.

    1. The issue is the debuff and stats for a HR. Paladin beats the living snot out of it and can be bought for 20-22HP each. Four would be 80HP for a FF.

Also, you've spent 50HP so far and the event still has quite a bit to go. You'll have to maintain that usage to maintain your rank.

      Delete
    2. Very true, but it's not a bad debuff decreases gods attack and works with pally being a man card plus it's going for7-8hp atm. For a hr that you can ff for around 40hp that has 15k df that's pretty good.
I just saw the leaders and they r around 1000m lol I don't don't know if thats a billon or not.
      ATM I'm at 25 mil.

  3. The EH in FF (6-2) will do about 20k on its own if it is the last card to fire. When mine fires with the rest of my deck (base 68k attack) it does about 90k worth of damage, so each attack does well over 100k. She doesn't fire every time but most of the time. Also she only fires once. Would be interesting to know what happens if you have more than one firing and how much damage you could do. She isn't a bad card in final form but doesn't have a good skill for battle but in 6-2 form she is 16.9k/13.5k so she helps as the fifth card in my deck for battling.

  4. Question: For the High Homunculus, does stacking more than one potentially block more than one attack? I currently have one FF HH, but I'm still not sure if its worth the ~6hp to get more than one to increase the chances it procs and potentially block more than one attack.

Also, what does improving the skill level actually improve? Its only one attack, so does improving the skill level increase the chances it activates?

    1. During roar when I tried stacking I never had more than one go off. I believe it is limited to one and have never seen or heard of an instance that would show otherwise.

      Delete
    2. They don't go off at the same time but they can still go off in the same battle I have 2 1 forms that do that

      Delete
    3. Interesting. I can honestly say during the entire Roar event I never had my second or third one go off. That's why I didn't think they were worth investing in this time around.

      Delete
    4. experimented with using 3 HH, 1 FF, 1+, and 1 ++ form. Had three of them go off at three different times when I used for the first time.

      Delete
    5. I agree with Benn. I have two HH on the same deck and none evolved - One with skill level 3 and the other with skill level 1. Sometimes I get two blocks (one from each in the same battle)

      Delete
    6. Hm. This is good to know. Thanks for all the clarification on it guys.

      Delete
    7. So what does improving the skill level for HH do? Elder Homu skill increases the damage output with increasing the level, so that makes sense, but I don't know about the HH. My only guess is it helps proc the skill by increasing the skill level...

      Delete
  5. I agree. The event is a hassle to keep up with, but I've come to the decision of not wasting the items I have. I'm limiting myself to only the Personal HP/CW I receive with every 10 defeats or so. It's honestly not so bad. I'm in around the 12500 position which gives me the HR, CP tickets and CW. I could use my own HP to get another HR but I don't think it would be worth the trouble.

In any case, I'm using SR Ody to help with the fight (Skill lvl 2 so gives another 2k damage when activated... Not much but something). Again I didn't want to waste HP for Homunculus, but I do wish I got the card before the prices went up. I could have used Homunculus for the first couple days or so to gain an edge then sell it off while prices were still high if not higher. Oh well. Maybe next time.

*Last event like this I had 2 Hobbits that blocked one attack and both of their skills activated almost always together. Perhaps it was a glitch for me or extreme luck. I don't really know, but it was possible then. Though seeing how the game has gone through a lot of maintenance, I'm guess it doesn't do the trick any more.

    1. Hm. I honestly never had that work out. I probably killed 20 dragons or so never having that occur.

I probably should have tried longer. But honestly the skill block cards are too weak on average to be useful.

    2. but HH seems like a decent card isnt it? I mean, the damage may be reduced by a couple k but when the skill procs, which like many times, my total damage output is actually almost 10k higher than when I just using my normal atk deck.
Did some recordings of my damage with and without HH.
I actually deal about 60k damage with normal deck with 82k base.
Using 1 ff HH with 12k atk actually reduces my base by about 2k(taking nm off my deck). But, on normal occasion when the skill isnt procs, I deal only 54k (6k less). However, when it does procs, I deal about 70k or maybe more depending when it procs. Its a matter of give and take. And in this case, its a matter of earning 10k or losing 6k damage. Overall, I have actually seen an increase in the total damage I dealt.

      Delete
    3. Well I would hope we'd see increases and I don't deny it.

My reason for not liking them is a little further into mathematics. I gauge how much HP even with the cards I will spend for what ranking and what is the reward for that ranking? Buying the HH and spending the HP will never pay off in my opinion.

To date the only event that I think really pays off are Holy Wars.

      Delete
    4. So as of now, what is your current ranking and what ranking do you want to achieve to be considered worth it in this event?

      Delete
    5. My current ranking is something around 30-40k fluctuating. I don't consider any of the ranks worth it at the moment. The rewards are too poor vs the HP needed for spending.

Depending on what my guild rank is I might pump in about 20-30HP on the last day to push them a bit ahead, but not because I think any of the rewards are worth it.

      Delete
    6. why so? isnt the reward almost the same as in the hw? they look the almost same as the previous hw rewards to me/

      Delete
    7. For some reason the rank I get doesn't increase to the level it does during HW based on HP spent. For example to reach rewards that would cost me 50HP to buy, I need to spend 100HP.

I assume it's because more people participate in these events and these events require little organization.

      Delete
    8. Well, I believe that should be the case. In HW 5, one of my ordermates actually had like x hw points(I forgot the total he got) and he was ranked like about 7k but in hw 6(or rather people call it as 5.5), my other ordermates had like almost 2x hw points and still got 7k in ranking. So, it is safe to assume that the number of participants in each event are different, hence causing changes in ranking.
By the way, I believe people are slowing down on their hp usage. I used only 1hp today and I am climbing in ranking.

    9. Lucarda if you bought the HH @ 10 HP when the bazaar opened. I'm currently running in the low 8000s after buying 4 of them for 10 HP each. I running one EH+ SK3, two EH skill 3, and two of (what i presume are 4-1) HH skill 3 that I bought for 2 HP each. That hits for 100K-150K per battle. That's 44 invested plus the evo costs plus about 7 or 8 personal HP when the Golems pop up.

I figure I can sell those 5 cards for 20 HP after the event and I'll get 2 High Alchemists and 3 Legend Packs which are probably another 25 in HP which gets me to 45 plus the 5 HP I've already received for selling the HH and HH+.

I will say that I think the investment for the 5000-10000 level looks more advantagous than the what you'd need to spend to get to the 1000-4999 level and that you needed to buy when the prices were low. If you waited to EH went back to 20, there wasn't much point.

  9. Once again, I have to say that your blog is awesome, thanks for taking the time to help all of us.

Question, right now I am at level 60 (GOD) trying to piece together my decks that you suggested.

Right now I have a 2 FF Agni's, 1 FF Gold Fox, 1 FF Rhea, and 1 base Elaine. Now I just got a Throw Elf in a legendary CP, what would you recommend, sell the Elf for around 35 CP and buy some more Agni's and Rhea's to complete my deck or trade if for another high rare?

    THANKS!

    1. Start building your HR deck. Your deck is solid enough that you should be working toward it. You can get some cheap HR (Elaine's being one of them) That are better than pretty much any rare.

      Delete
    2. You should be able to get two Elaines for it. Then you can get up to an Elaine++ for your Deck, half-way there!

  10. hey lucarda, you have been saying that 6max is the way to go for good hr. What about 5-9? I am now trying to build a bloody mistress. Have 4 cards now. So, I am just wondering about the types of build I want to go. Since bloody m. is so damn expensive, I am contemplating that whether I should go for just 5-9. Your opinion please. Thanks

    1. Resale value would be dropped previously. The point of the 6-10 wasn't for the extra power as much as it was for the perceived value later one when reselling.

The bazaar removes that. Now people get to look directly at the difference and you'll notice 6-10 cards stay up for days while 4-6 cards go super fast.

I'd say given the current marketplace you can do a 5-9 and since Bazaar only lists stats, nobody will be able to tell the difference.

      Delete
    2. What do you mean by nobody will be able to tell the difference? Isn't it obvious that the difference will be about 200+ between a 5-9 and a 6-10?

      Delete
    3. And what if I build it for my def and I don't think I am gonna sell it anytime soon. So, I should still go for 5-9?

      Delete
    4. A lot of people don't pay that much attention on AH. They will see that it's a couple hundred higher than a 4max and assume that it's a 6max rather than look up and double check.

I like 6-10s. I'm a huge advocate of them. But currently the Bazaar system has messed up prices so much that I think 4-6 retains a better portion of its value at the moment.

      Delete
  11. Thanks for the clarification but what is AH?
I myself have changed my view on evo when you posted on 4max vs 6max but sometimes the price of certain cards are just ridiculous and hard to afford

    1. Auction house/bazaar.

If you buy the full evolutions correct. Here's how I always looked at it. You're investing in property that can be resold.

I buy 6 nightmares for 45HP each. I do a 6max. Rough cost 305HP. Rough resale value as a 6max was 335-350. It sells in a few hours.

I buy 4 nightmares for 45HP each. I do a 4max. Rough cost is about 205HP. Rough resale value as a 4max was 200HP-225HP. It sells in about a week.

Currently though since people aren't judging based on the evolution, but on raw stats and the competition is higher 6max NM are selling for under 300.

Pretty much Bazaar ruined the market for reselling better evo'd cards.

    2. Well, I agree. FF cards are now valued pretty much way way below normal prices before this AH is up
