The Puppet Master Strikes Back

The Puppet Master Strikes back is the upcoming event for Rage of Bahamut. Many people who started during Tears of the Moon may think that all events are the same but The Puppet Master Strikes Back, PM for short, will be played along the lines of Roar of the Dragons.

During this event players will quest until a boss randomly appears. This occurs in a similar fashion to a chest appearing, but is a boss instead. Once this boss appears you will be able to fight it using your deck. If you are unable to beat the boss with your deck, you will then be given the option to summon allies who can aid you in defeating the boss. After the boss is defeated yourself and allies who contributed will be awarded cards.

Doing well in this event is very different from doing well in Tears of the Moon. Tears only required players to exploit a glitch until they earned a 30% stamina reduction then spend huge amounts of clear water. This event requires the use of both CW, HP, Fellows, Orders, as well as a powerful attack deck.

Clear Waters:
Since bosses are summoned via questing there will be times when no boss is up and you are out of stamina to use to summon one. This is the use of Clear Water. It gives you greater control over the time bosses are summoned.

Holy Powder:
The bosses get progressively harder as you defeat them. As they get progressively harder there will eventually be a point in which the boss needs to be attacked several times until it is put down no matter how powerful your deck is. Holy Powder is used to allow you to attack the boss multiple times without him escaping.

Fellows/Orders:
When you cannot defeat a boss you will be given an option to call for assistance from your allies. The call will pull from all allies/order members that are available who are not in conflict with a boss. Because of this, overlapping fellows and order members is not recommended. Try to have your fellows be from outside your order.

Powerful Attack Deck:
During the boss fight your attack deck in its entirety will be what is used to attack the monster. Obviously the more powerful the deck, the better chances of defeating the boss. Your deck will attack, the boss will counter. Using cards that are made to combat event bosses also aids in the fight since there buff is generally more significant. There are also cards that can block event bosses attacks one time.

 Things to note:
1) You have one hour once the boss is summoned to defeat him.
2) Allies summoned will be from both order and fellows. Keep them separate.
3) The more damage a player does to the boss the more rewards they will receive.
4) Event Skill cards are made to do well, use them if you can afford them.
5) Huge amounts of skilled high normals are rewarded during the event, it's a great time to skill up your main cards.
6) Always help kill other peoples bosses if you're invited to, work together and share in rewards.
7) There is an order rewards based on the number of bosses defeated, better rewards at higher tiers.
8) Individual ranking is calculated by overall damage done to bosses.
9) Order ranking is calculated by overall damage done by all members of your order to bosses.

  1. Wow thank you for the explanations and tips. But how do you get these "events cards"? I bought 2 card packs, spent $$, and got nothing but R cards.

    1. Normally there is one dropped during the event as a high normal that can be evo'd to rare. Other than that, the one would be best purchased on forums. Current selling rate is really high though so I just go without it personally.

  2. Ex will non event card skill like boost to atk/ hit to def work on bosses? Also the boss fights works like tears where one hit take away your cards? Can we wear down the boss like tears or we need to kill in one fight? When you help kill allies boss, does it also go towards ur personal kill count for rewards?

    1. You have one hour to defeat the boss, you can fight him as many times as he wants. Lets say he has 1mil life. Your deck does 100k damage, would take you 10 attacks over the course of an hour. Your order/fellows can help though if you use the option to call for help.

If you help your friends kill the boss I believe it goes toward your personal. I didn't measure that much last time but most of my kills were helping allies and I seemed to do well so I can only assume helping helps everybody.

    2. Will you be damaging normally, or damage decrease drastically like HW walls, basically wall fights except image change from wall to monster?

    3. Normally. It will be your five face cards. They will attack, the monster will counter, they will attack again, monster will counter, etc until all cards are dead. Normally 3-5 attacks before all dead and reduced damage each time one of your cards dies.

  3. First question. Does attack power work normally?
Second question. Does calling for allies take attack power like tears of the moon or is it free like fighting normal quest bosses?
Third question. Will you have to fight other people for treasures like tears in addition to fighting the bosses?
Fourth question. If it is a competition to kill the most bosses, but you want to cooperate to kill them, how does that work?
Fifth and and sixth questions. When you call for a fellow, do they have to do anything, or do they automatically attack? Does this use up your fellow's attack power too?

    1. 1) Yes
      2) No, but they have a choice to attack or not to attack since it will cost their attack to do so.
      3) No
      4) I guess this deserves clarification. There are rewards based on dragons defeated that are automatic like beating levels. The order rankings/individual rankings are based on overall DAMAGE DONE TO BOSSES. So, your goal should be to always be fighting a boss and doing damage to it to increase both your individual and order damage done to bosses.
      5) They have to choose to help.
      6) Yes it does.

    1. Whoops, dragon boss is a carry over in my terminology from Roar of the Dragon event this one is modeled after.

It will be Golem's if I'm not mistaken.

  7. If this is going to be like rage of the dragon build up on cw why you can or get your fellows to unfollow you and build your stamina up. Make sure your decks are built down with attack power. Also it would be good to have some cards that hit big bosses as skill like a Ody.

    1. Clear water isn't as important is it was during the Tears of the Moon event. Normally a dragon is up virtually all the time regardless of whether or not you summoned it if you have a good order and good fellows.

If you don't, absolutely bulk up on CW.

Remember though, although there are rewards for boss kills the way the rankings are computed are by DAMAGE done. So don't worry about aiding your fellows.

  8. Where should i quest? I finished all quests in the game? should i just quest from the second chapter or the 37th chapter?

    1. I generally quest on the last level since I don't care. When I was actually have cards I want to enhance I normally will quest on 2-2 for normal feeders or there's a 10 stamina quest that has a rare drop of a skilled high normal.

  9. If you choose to aid a fellow who is not in your order, does the damage done to the golem count towards your invidual and order damage total?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Both. Any damage you contribute counts as your order damage and your own.

  10. Do you know if it is possible to do the first stages of quests that cost 1-4 stamina and get boss spawns?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Once a stage is finished you can't go back. That's why I say only quest if you are stam capped or if a dragon isn't up. That way you remain on those quests as long as possible to summon the most dragons with least CW expenditure.

How does questing for the Puppet Master Event work? Do we get another quest screen and are we automatically questing there when the event starts?

    1. You have to select a different quest option that will be labeled the puppet master strikes back.

From that hub it just kind of proceeds like normal but you don't have the option to go back to quests you finish.

  12. I dont get the option to request my order/fellows to help me, Why?

  13. Puppetmaster boss fights have a 2 hout timer. Golem boss fights have a 20 minute timer.

You don't get the option to call Order/Fellows until you've lost a boss fight.

Card skills outside of the event skills have not gone off for me after 34 bosses, only the Homunculus skills.

    1. If you're worried about Order/Fellow help, just attack with a 2pt attack card like goblin. Personally though I always just attack with full power.

The only cards I'm aware of that work are boss damage boost and blocking cards. The buffs aren't that significant though.

      Delete
    2. The buff is significant for me - I have a 4-3 Elder Homunculus that increases by full deck attack from ~19K damage to ~80K damage.

      Delete
    3. Did not expect that big of a boost honestly. I was going off ax master buff and it wasn't even close to that significant.

Maybe I should pick one up.

      Delete
    4. Yeah, it's pretty huge. End up being a 3-4x buff on Puppet Master fights, and then doubles-again your damage on Golem fights (your base damage is already doubled on the Golem fight)

  14. Puppet Master++ --> Reached after defeating Puppet Master+ 15 times.

    Starting health - 1,100,000.

    1. Think there's a difference in skill power between the HR or the SR? I notice the SR calls its skill +3 but still just says its a big boost.

If I could I'd like to just use the HR and skill it up to 7-10 instead of getting the SR at skill 1.
