Why I love Holy Wars

Regular readers will note that I normally don't find events very profitable. I look at every event, estimate how much HP/CW it takes to hit a certain rank and then estimate how much HP/CW the rewards for that rank are worth. I do this to decide if an event is worth it and the reason is, besides the HP/CW there is the time aspect.

For example in Puppet Master I didn't participate very much. The reason wasn't so much the profitability but the time aspect. It could've been profitable if I bought up an Elder Homunculus before it started (I was looking at them) and then just powered through. It was purely the thought of needing to be on constantly that kept me away from it. Then the event started and I was happy I did because after the first couple days seeing what it would have taken to gain rank, I don't think it would have been worth it. And, I may have been wrong, but oh well. The time wouldn't have been.

So, why do I love Holy Wars? Well, first of all, only being three days is really nice. On top of that I get to play at my leisure because there is always a war going and I can just pound through HP as fast as I like. It really is an event where I can play for one of the three days and attain a rank I'm satisfied with and help my order.

Why do I think they're profitable?

Double payout and great rewards in both brackets. On top of this even the mid-level brackets give nice rewards. Also, gem payout for winning a certain number of wars on top of it. Payouts on three facets really help the rewards.

If every member of your order spends 100HP and you win most of your matches (winning is important since you want the double point bonus) you can normally hit a 100-200 ranking. On top of this your personal ranking is normally enough to get a HR and a couple LCP. This normally results in about 130-200HP worth of reward for a 100HP investment. If every member of your order is willing to spend 200HP you normally end up in the top 100s. You also will normally nab up couple HR and if you're lucky an SR in personal ranking.

Why doesn't everybody view them as profitable as me? If you only spend 20HP and you have an inactive order, you're probably losing out. In general if your order isn't spending the same amount as you on the HW, you're losing value.

There are a lot of players out there who spend 200HP on a Holy War who end up in a 300 ranking for their order because they aren't in a good order and have issues finding one.

To find a good order I recommend posting on Gamefaqs your base ATK/DEF and how much HP you're willing to spend along with what rank order you're looking for. Be realistic about the rank based on your ATK/DEF and the amount of HP you're willing to spend, a top 100 normally has a 100-150HP minimum and a lot of times have a mandatory 10-20HP donation. Keep in mind if your stats are a little low, a lot of orders will make exceptions if you're going to blow some extra HP.

  1. Erm hi there.. im new to this game and i have reached lvl 37 in 5 to 6 days. I don't really know much about this game...and i have always looked for guidiance in this website. I want to ask if someone like me participated in the holy wars..would it end up to be more "Losses" than "Profits"?

  2. No it would not end up in more losses.

It pretty much always ends up in profit if a players order has active members who spend about the same amount of HP. If you're the only person in your order and spend 10HP chances are you won't be pleased but if you're one of 25 actives who each spend 10HP you'll be pleased.

  3. The rewards for this Hw is good? No gem

  4. Holy shit. Truth be told I was so engrossed in Sons of Anarchy that I completely forgot HW started today. I normally blow 50hp sat and 50hp sunday anyway but damn I hate missing the start up attacks to establish my presence and pure dominance in HP wastefulness.

As for rewards they are better than usual. Normally you don't get any SR until you hit top 100, for this you'll get your second Olivia and dark general as well as a HR claim ticket. DG worth about 100hp (prolly a lil less these days) Olivia to add to your deck, HR+ is about 10-50hp.

Break top 2000 and Zombie rider and to LCP. Looking at about 35HP there. So all in all for a price of 100hp (if you have a solid order) You'll net about 140hp + Olivia.

  5. This theory is ALL dependent on your Order though. If you're dropping HP and the rest of your order isn't and 20 of them aren't contributing hardly at all then you've just started the game over with no HP to show for it.

    1. I've never been in an inactive order. My worst ranking during a Holy War was in an order with a ranking under 600. So it's always been worth it for me.

  6. Only a few in my order does the massive damage(100+hp 90k+ base) including myself (i say 5 out of 34). Some members even declare unnecessary wars at random cause us to lose wars netting negative digits XD (why the hell would u declare a war if u are not going to fight it?). We are currently, surprisingly rank near the border of 300. However, i kept having this feeling that i am wasting all my hp for those that didn't even contribute enough (the rest), and likely we wont make it below 300 by the end of tomorrow :P (unless i and several other throw in another 100 HP for the team)

    2. Losing wars doesn't net you negative digits. I have no idea where this myth came from but it's spreading stupidly fast.

You only lose 20% during the battle. I.e. Order has 1000pts during the battle, opposing order smacks the player with the points, order points will eventually hit zero.

You can lose 100 battles and win 1. You don't lose points for losing a war. You lose points from losing battles during a war and it can never fall below the amount your order started with. You begin the war with 100000 points, you will end the war with at least 100000 points.

    3. Same here!
Me and about 8 others spend a lot of hp (>50) and the rest does barely nothing. I would even spend more if I wasn't still working on my deck, still have to buy some cards which I can't obtain by trading (or at least not fast enough).
Furthermore we also have the problem of order members declaring war and then attack only 2 or 3 times which brings nothing. I am really thinking of switching to a more active order after HW.
I guess more then half of my order doesn't even read the order forum, which says it all...

  8. So Lucarda how is the 'Make money from no home' project coming along? I'm asking because I'm in a seminar that talks about internet marketing and has the same ideas as that. Lecturer talks about internet marketing, affiliates, trafficking and other stuff. Is the thing your reading identical?

    1. As for the month I made $220 with an initial investment of $37 from the guide, $15 for webhosting, and $10 for a domain purchase. I'm also checking to see if I can do it with wordpress hosted sites but I find that blogspot and wordpress sites are much harder to get ranked with.

It's probably similar to what you're learning but with more specifics on how to get certain things, where to place backlinks, how to place backlinks that are effective and work. How to find and where to look for products on the market and getting ahead of the curve.

I've diverged from the plan a bit though because Peng Joon highly recommends outsourcing (I can actually see why after checking out some of the freelance sites) to get a lot of the work done faster.

I can tell you that my college marketing class could have really taken some notes from the system. Had instead of just reading and learning about generic marketing we did a project based on this system, it would have been a lot more effective and hands on.

  9. Found out my lecturer was Brett McFall.
A guy who makes $42,000 monthly XD.
Are you creating and selling a product or are you recommending someone else's product to people and earn proceedings if they buy it?
As for outsourcing, he told me to use guru.com (they makes solutions) and elance.com (they make articles and anything word based) as they are the most reliable.

    1. Odesk is also a good one for outsourcing. The key is diversity, you don't just recommend one product, you recommend several. Realistically if you make a product nobody will buy it unless you are a known brand. Otherwise I would make a product.

  10. So I got a SR Sutekh in a CP pack the other day and I am wondering what to do with it to best build my God deck.

    Attack:
    Ifrit++
    Agni FF
    Agni FF
    Gold Fox FF
    Agni FF

    Defense:
    Rhea FF
    Rhea FF
    Rhea FF
    Rhea FF
    Vayu FF

So what do you think I should do? I know that the Fairy Princess is probably the best option for a God SR but I have a feeling it would take me forever to save up to get another one or should I sell it and finish my Infrit and start on another HR?

Thanks again for the great blog!

  11. Don't jump into SR. The difference between R and HR is huge. The difference between HR and SR is smaller.

I would snag up an Ifrit then Sword Valks. Or I would go three ifrit since they are cheaper, and a couple principalities for the wing cards.

If you favor defense, start working toward 5 Apsara.

  12. Awesome, thanks for the advice! That is kind of how I was leaning but I wanted to make sure since your advice has been pretty money so far on how to set up my decks.

  13. first of all thank you sooo much for this awesome blog, you're the reason i don't make stupid trades anymore, and my overall understanding of the game. I made an error and got my stamina to 200, atk 195 def 130, im trying to remove fellows to correct my stats but soon it'l be removing from my atk. i'm level 63 now do you recommend to start a new account? one more thing: i have 5 hilds as atk and 3 rheas 1 vayu 1 anemone as def, i know i should go for 5 apsaras but the good ones cost each about 250 to 400 hp. its a timely endeavor, whats should be my next move?

    1. It's not a big enough mistake to justify re-rolling. Realistically if you wanted to, you could just have about 15 people unfriend you from where you are at and bring it down to 160ish on attack and stam and then you can reallocate to Attack. Or you can keep 200, it's not a bad number especially for CW events.

I've noted before that I don't put a lot of value on defense. If you're not going Apsara and you want something cheap and effective get 3 paladins and 2 captains. Roughly 80k base buffing up over 100k if you skill up the pallies.

      Otherwise, Apsara ftw.
