Blizzard of the Cystal Castle

Well, I was partially right on the Blizzard of the Crystal Castle event in that it was a boss attack event, but the variance is worth talking about.

Where other boss attack events like The Puppet Master were based purely on attack damage done to bosses, this event is based on items attained from the boss to determine ranking. Also the way rewards are distributed is different from the previous event.

Oddly, this event is based off of Marvel War of Heroes Avengers event. Considering both games are Mobage, it's not surprising to see a crossover.

So, on the questing aspect of the game I will note there is a resurgence of the 'pick your path' before a boss. This is barely worth mentioning, but is a difference from puppet master events.

The battle aspect of the game is what changed significantly. Previously players were rated purely on the damage they did but this event is based on frost shards collected. The amount of frost shards you gain are based on a couple factors.

Reasons to get frost shards:
1) You discovered the boss
2) You dealt the killing blow
3) You did enough damage to be considered an MVP
4) Damage done (amount of shards increase with amount of damage done, exact ratio unknown)
5) Big Hits - This refers to a bonus that appears randomly for me. I get bonus shards that I can collect even if the boss isn't dead yet. I assume this is a bonus paid for heavy damage.

The overall amount of frost shards gathered will determine your personal rank as well as your orders rank.

Now, on the topic of Snow Crystals.

There are three types of Snow Crystals: White, Blue, and Pink. White Crystals can be exchanged for the lowest rewards, it takes 10 to receive a reward. Blue Crystals can be exchanged for the middle tier of reward, it takes 5 to receive a reward. Pink Crystals can be exchanged for the highest tier of reward, it takes 3 to receive a reward.

White will produce randomly one of the following:
Cure Water (Personal)
Holy Powder (Personal)
5,000 Rupies
10,000 Rupies
500 Friendship Points
1,000 Friendship Points
5 Frost Shards
10 Frost Shards
20 Frost Shards
Random Card

Blue will produce randomly one of the following:
PREMIUM CP Claim Ticket
Frost Knight Card
Cure Water (Personal)
Holy Powder (Personal)
10,000 Rupies
20,000 Rupies
1,000 Friendship Points
2,000 Friendship Points
10 Frost Shards
20 Frost Shards
50 Frost Shards
Random Card

Pink will produce randomly one of the following:
HR & UP CP Claim Ticket
PREMIUM CP Claim Ticket
Archangel Queen Card
Devil Queen Card (ABOUT DAMN TIME THIS CARD MADE AN APPEARANCE)
Frost Knight Card
Cure Water (Personal) x 1
Holy Powder (Personal) x 1
20,000 Rupies
100,000 Rupies
1,000 Friendship Points
3,000 Friendship Points
100 Frost Shards
250 Frost Shards
500 Frost Shards
Random Card

Some Extra Notes:
1) If you wish to maximize your points, try to attack bosses with huge health pools that have high combos running. This will result in more damage and thus more crystals.
2) If you use a card that is not fully enhanced during an attack, it randomly gains experience (not really useful but wierd)
3) Individual rewards are far superior to order rewards. As a result it is probably worth it for your order to hold off on spending huge amounts for a better order ranking. If individuals want to gain high ranking let them, but don't require it of your members, better to have them ready for Holy Wars.

Finally:
Sorry about the first mispost of Crystal Castle. I didn't expect them to change the way the event ran versus previous times.

  1. I am not going to bother really pushing for this event with a HW coming soon.

That said, I'd still like to make good decisions and maximize my effectiveness in my limited (as in not aided by CW or HP) activity.

So my question is, for those not willing to shell out 120Hp for the SR event card (or a CRAZY 600+ for a 4-MAX) is it worth putting the rare card at the head of our deck (it's a man-realm rare that maxes out at under 7K ATK without evolution)?

In other words, how effective is the medium event bonus? Am I still better off with Ifrit or Trow elf at the head of my God dec or do I replace them for the event attacking like I do with Principaliy during HW?

    1. With my deck his proc gives an additional 70kish damage at base. Up to 140k when the combos were high. He's who I'm using because I'm hoping to hit 3000-4990 cheaply. Ded Moraz isn't going to be worth much in my opinion.

If you have the man card for event bonus, use him, he works better since your decks buffs don't actually go off.

    2. Here's an odd question... how do I level up the event skill? Frost Knight has two skills, a skill and event skill... when I tried to skill level it, it's skill went up, but not it's event skill... thoughts?

      Delete
    3. Yeah, that bothered me as well. I haven't tried skilling mine, but I would guess one of two things.

      1) It's completely random - VERY LIKELY
      2) You need to use skilled event cards like yeti to level the event skill - VERY VERY VERY UNLIKELY, BUT FUNNY IF THEY DID.

      Delete
    4. Yeti's skill is blocking one boss attack, so it's actually sort of useful (Puppetmasters Rare Hom). I tried skilling the Inferno with a block of 10 with 5 of the event God card thrown in and it skilled up the non-event skill. Oh well.

      Delete
    5. Dunno if this will help any but I noticed that once I leveled up my Frost Knight, the first level went to the NON-event skill, making it 2. But when I did it again, it made BOTH skills level 4. Dunno if I got lucky or what, but try going one more level.

      Delete
    6. Yeah, the whole duo skill thing is weird.

  2. All the Boss Cards work (Elder, Axe, Odysseus, etc.). I believe Axe>Elder (50K attack v 45K when fired).

Both Frost and Inferno are pretty key (and lok to be . Frost is equal to those above HR cards while Inferno hits for 70-75K when fired.

All these are for just base cards.

So for an Elder, Axe, Inferno, Frost, Elder deck I can hit from 150-225 on the first battle (goes up as the bonus goes up which as Lucarda points out means you should wait til the end to attack others Monsters since your attack...and thus shards...goes up). Also you get that Impact bonus at different levels of punishment dealt. It's not random, but I don't know what the cutoffs are, so a big powerful deck with boosts is important.

Also, as the boss gets more powerful, you're cards with weak defense get killed quicker.

I have yet to get anything good out of the shard redemptions unless you count a Gold Fox. There is plenty of personal HP to earn in the event, so its a good primer for HW if your just playing when your stam and power recover. Having said all that, I don't see much purpose in going all out here since the SR Demon for the 801-3000 places is pretty blasé

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep, SR demon is crap. I think the 3000-4999 bracket is better unless you're going for crystal dragon which I anticipate selling for 350 each after they level out.

  3. just wanna say, i followed your advice on alt accounts and managed to do pretty good. my other account recently gotten into a order ranked 200 something last holy war, so ovbiously, i am way more active in my alt account to impress the order leader. i actually am good in my other account.

  4. How u find the event Inferno? it seem to be a much more useful card compare to Axe master and Elder H with its dual skills.

Will it be better if i use 4 base inferno or 4 max version of it?

    ReplyDelete

    1. For the event 4 max it. Event bonus cards gain skill power upon being leveled and the boost is significant.

  5. I've been thinking. Doesn't it make sense to use the HP that one WOULD use on this event for other purposes. Say you're shooting for 3000-4999 bracket. How much HP/CW would that cost you?

Maybe like 100 combined or more? I'm not sure exactly. But what if you used those resources for the honor points. Most of the top rankers are in the event and using their resources. This is an opportunity to battle if you have a good deck--75k+ base. You can get top 1000 for a week and a half easy. What do you think Lucarda?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In theory yes. I wish the order rewards were better because then this event would be way more worth it. I just think the 3000-4999 coming with 3 HR and a HR on UP pack is nice.

  8. Hey lucarda. I just want to pick your mind about waiting to sell my ff cassio's and ff inferno until the crystal dragon boss comes out in 2 days. Would they go for more since there will probably be a demand for them to beat the crystal dragon? Or should I sell them now?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They've been dropping in price since the release slowly. I think most the people who were going to buy the event card, bought it. I think there are some high levels on the edge of buying it and crystal dragon may just encourage them to buy.

      Delete
  9. hey lucarda, can you explain about the price hike? I havent been checking the bazaar for quite some time and suddenly all high tier cards (sr/ssr) are rising in price by at least 20-30 hp. Just a few days ago, sutekh is seen at 130 and archilles at 80. Now they are 170 and 100 respectively. Any idea on current bazaar situation?

    1. Hm. Interesting. I hadn't noticed. At this point I have to assume its a temporary fluke since we don't know if they'll maintain.

If it turns out to be consistent I can only assume its in response to the market. Lets say 10% of the cards on the market are SR/SSR. Then lets say 60% of the cards on the market are HR, and the rest are rare or lower.

If we take this number and look at the player base it says 10% of people have full SR/SSR Decks. 60% of players have HR decks. 30% of players have Rare decks.

That means in order to improve on their decks, 60% of players need to purchase cards that only make up 10% of the market.

These numbers of course are made up for the example but the point shouldn't be lost. 30% of the players (Rare or lower decks) are going after 60% of the cards (HR hence the low value, high supply low demand), and 60% of the players are going after 10% of the cards (SR+ low supply high demand).

Normally though that type of market reaction takes a lot longer to occur. That's why I say probably just a random event.

      Delete
    2. Plausible. My ordermate however offered me another form of explanation. He said that since lcp is now giving hp after more than 1 month of giving cw, this make people richer in hp, increasing their purchasing power. Hence, the increase in price. Your thought on this?

      Delete
    3. If that were the case prices would be going up across the board. Not solely on SR and up.

    1. Great question! I have a decent attack deck (trow elf, 2 sword valks and 2 Ancient Fairies) and it was beneficial for me to replace one AF with a 4-max Frost Knight and place it in the 1st slot in my attack deck.

On a side note, does anyone kow how much these event cards actually help? (on the RoB wiki it has exact percentages for "Big boost" vs "medium boost" when it deals with realm atk/def boosts... but do we have the numbers for these event cards?

I ask because I was thinking of upgrading to inferno or cass instead of frost knight when the crystal dragons appear IF it was worth it.

      Delete
    2. I found frost knight to be cheap and pretty effective for this event. It gives an extra 80k damage before combo with an 80k deck. When the combo gets high it's around 200k. The way the card works is it causes the entire team to get an extra attack and that attack does heavier damage than they normally would.

I imagine since Frost knight when fully evolved does about 80k (when fully evolved it gets the boost that a base Inferno does) that the inferno does 4x that when fully evolved, so 340k (base, probably close to 800k when combos are high). Finally, I would assume following that same logic that Cass does about 1mil bonus and close to 3mil bonus.

This is all speculation based on if the cards increased in strength at a constant rate.

      Delete
    3. Oh, by the way. The wiki's boosts are sometimes incorrect. I don't know if they fixed what was causing it but some high end cards were showing 20% boosts when they are only 15% boosts. The same was happening in the middle for a bit.

      Delete
    4. Thanks for the quick reply and plethora of information.

Right now I'm sitting at 4K rank and have only used the personal HP that the event itself has given me... which I'm happy with. I'd have to spend a lot of HP to get into the Crystal Dragon prize range, and in my mind I'd rather get 3 Lily's, HP pack and 10 HP than a Dez Moroz

As long as I can maintain my current rank I'll stick with a Frost Knight.

      Delete
    5. I agree. Dez is just an all round awful reward for the rank.

      Delete
    6. Idk if it will help with your calculations but im running 2 sk4 cass with my deck. It has 89K base attk. Base attack on skadi is 800k dmg. 1.7mil when 500% boost is on.

      Delete
    7. Hm. So about 10x the power of frost knight. Seems about right.

  11. thanks but what if i upgrade the skill? how much does it change the boost?

  12. How would u rate Crystal Lilies vs Sword Valk? They have very similar attack (Lilies marginally higher) while the skills, Lilies is a debuff all and Sword is a bluff all. Does it make sense to replace Sword with lilies instead?

    1. I would prefer the debuff all in the situation. Honestly though the stat difference is so marginal it makes no sense to replace your sword valks for them.

  14. Greedy devs. How are you supposed to beat crystal dragons when their hit points reach 400 million? How many hps would you have to spend to kill ONE dragon? Ur better off killing off a lvl 50 skadi on ur own and get 5000 shards in the process.

    ReplyDelete

    1. The reason they do it is because technically you can get a ton of players helping. Not only can you call for help, but anybody who helps can call for help. You could actually have thirty players helping on the same boss.

      Delete
    2. They are greedy for sure... but I think it's more to do with releasing two sets of cards with different skills for different bosses!

The cards that had skills to defeat Skadi's don't help defeat Crystal Dragons.. haha yeesh.

  15. Well, the Gold Crystals suck ass. so far I've received nothing but high normals, & once I've had 1000 friendship points. Seeing as they're a lot rarer than the other crystals I'd have thought it might have been nice to remove the lowest rank of rewards so that you actually feel like you're getting more of a benefit.

    2. I think same, but the developpers don't think same, and this is not ready to improves the way where Rage of Bahamut go (a Pay 2 Win for obtain the BETTER rewards...), and this is go to be a worse game.

I think Rage of Bahamut is not a game anymore but a stupid shit money game. Comparison? Ok, Go to buy a CARDpack, and you will have HP for sure. Go to pick some Pink/Gold crystal random rewards, and you get nothing .. (Cards (normal.... ? WHAT? In a Gold ??? They suck.) The bazaar suck, The limitations on Trade sucks, The orders rewards sucks, The 2 weeks/Bazaar tickets (5 per day?? Not enough tickets for create in a day a good improved deck..) All sucks now. And YES devs are now greedy, and I hope devs just change their mind, or players goes in other games.. At concurrent games such Cryptids (for the moment Legend of Cryptids is fun... But.. for the moment)

So that is my mind: If Rage of Bahamut go for be a pay 2 win, I just quit. It was really a fun game, but now, ut's way is to became a shittest game..

Sorry for employ, some these kind of vocabulary..

  17. Thoughts on Ded Moroz, its effect that does damage to man defense which is the primary defense leader in every Order because it is the cheapest to build. It has stats of 19.6k for a 4-7. Do you really think its not worth the trouble? Currently im ranked 1100 and not sure if its worth maintaining because crystal dragon is just out of my reach.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Players are really unlikely to spend primo coin on a card that is a debuff to one realm. Also, the players generally searching for SR are in top 500 orders. Top 500 Orders see a lot of Pure Lancelot defenses as well, making the card useless against them.

I just can't see it selling for a lot. It's stats are low as well, only 19.6k when trow brings 19k as a wing. Hard to justify purchasing.

      Delete
    2. Uh, a Ded Moroz vs. a Lancelot, Ded Moroz wins... Maybe I'm wrong, but given they both proc and are same evo's, Ded Moroz would beat the Lancelot. At least based on starting attack vs. defense values. Is something wacky with the evolution that makes Ded < Lancelot?

      Ded atk = 3,810 (pwr 29)
      Lance def = 3,770 (pwr 27)

      Delete
    3. Ded's 4/7 evo is under 20k offense.

Lancelots 4/7 Defense is over 20k defense.

Lancelot beats him. Just because a cards base stats are higher than another cards, doesn't mean a cards evolved stats are higher. So the one realm where Ded should produce results, he's unable to.

      Delete
    4. Incorrect, Ded wins.

A debuff of equal strength will beat the buff, and in the case of a 25% buff (maxed Ded and Lance), the difference is 6.25% (1 proc) in favour of the debuff. Since this is less than the diff in stats, Ded wins.

It is close, and it comes down to proce, but if the Ded procs equal or more than the Lance, it wins. Lance only wins if it procs more than Ded.

      Delete
    5. Yeah, I always forget to do the additional math on debuff.

And then it loses against the second most popular Defense Deck Apsara's. Then it loses against Sleipnir decks (Gods Lancelot) as well. It actually loses against a demon Wraith, 4BM deck as well.

Overall, it's a bad card and I wouldn't spend HP on it with so many truly viable options out there. If you're truly having issues against a defense, you should just attack some weak player to accumulate the 30% damage buff then just destroy them.

      Delete
    6. He's very similar to Gilgamesh, though with marginally less attack, and greater def for +2 power. Overall, I agree there are better cards, but for improving a HR deck, he does have a niche.

      Delete
  18. On a side note, I pulled an ax master today, and had one lying around from a referral HR and up pack, so I bought 2 more (3HP for the first and 5HP for a maxed one) and made a 4-max with skill level 4 -- he does way more damage than my frost knight... then I sold my frost knight (4-max skill 8) for 12HP and actually made income on the switch.

AX master works great because he does medium dam to all of them plus large damage to the crystal dragons... and he's cheap!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but my boosts from event skill cards all seem to be about the same. I only noticed a difference when fighting Skadi, Frost Knight gave about 10% more damage than when my Elder Homunculus or Ax Master proc'd. But even then, the variation just between hits was about 10%.

When fighting the Crystal Dragon, all three hit for about the same amount, given the margin from just random variation. And there should be a large difference, Frost Knight should be a small boost vs. dragon, Elder Homunculus should be small boost, and Ax Master should be large boost... It just feels if you have an event card, it'll boost for about the same. Oh yeah, the skill levels are 3, 1, 2 respectively.

      Delete
    2. I agree FBaum, it seems like they rushed this event and some of the bugs weren't worked out. I also dislike how they sold different event cards for different segments of the event... overall this seemed like a rushed money grab, and I'm not happy about it. (But really, who am I?)

      Delete
    3. I think these events last too long and that's my main issue with them. Maintaining rank for over two weeks is expensive and generally not worth it. If the events were three or four days long like HW the rewards wouldn't seem like such let downs.

  19. Lucarda thanks for all of your posts. I use your information for my order regularly. Been debating the best spot to place in this event. In an earlier post you mentioned 350 HP for Crystal Dragon. What is your estimate of how much HP Ded Moroz and Crystalia Lily will go for when they level? And are they worth more or less immediately after the event? Thanks man.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ded Moroz is tough to estimate. Although he is an S Rare he has similar attack stats to Trow Elf. His buff is situation. Realistically I would estimate him around 80-100HP.

Crystal Lily is another tough one. Although I think she's a good card even though she has an 8% buff, there will be soo many of them I think she will be sold cheap.

Most certainly all cards are at their highs immediately after the event. Sometimes afterwards they go to low until they are bought up, then they rise to slightly over bottom pricing.

      Delete
    2. It's interesting, since the Crystlia is the best HR attacker in the GOD realm, yet people are going to undervalue her because 1: there will be a lot available really soon, and 2: people don't understand how buffs and debuffs work (debuffs are way better - her sk10 18% debuff is roughly equivalent to a 22% buff).

      Delete
    3. It isn't about the debuff aspect. It's about the fact she's an 8%. People understand 8% is less than 13%. In the end the buff cards reach 23% buff vs the 22% debuff. Plus you need to factor in that order and attack/defense lead buffs stack with this increasing their potency. In the end the gap is slightly wider.

The major advantage to debuff cards is they have an even higher effect if your opponent has higher base stats than you, which is key.

      Delete
    4. Problem is, in GOD realm there is no 13% boost except Ifrit at the HR level, and his attack only reaches 15k. So right now, Lily is the best HR attack card in the GOD realm.

      Delete
    5. Yeah. I've felt the shaft ever since Claymore was released. Since I unfortunately main demon I had Nightmares for my buffing and when Dragonewt came out I was horribly disappointed because she only offers an 8% buff.

Lily is a good card. I've felt since the beginning of this event that I would rather push for 3 Lily's over 1 Ded. But with three being given out to each player in a wide ranking, that's a LOT of cards hitting the market.

I could predict a pretty steep decrease in pricing on sword valk though as a result of this.

      Delete
    6. I think people are under-valuing her now, as she is selling at 20-25, whereas the Valk is at 27-32. I mean, she is better than the Valk at everything except Walls and TnA.

      Delete
    7. I don't think that she's undervalued so much as sword valk is overvalued. Personally I've always thought sword valk was overvalued and didn't like her as a card at all. Because of her weak buff she was only slightly better than Ifrit.

I think 25HP is probably fair for her given the number of her available. A lot of people have already put the time and effort into their sword valk decks and are very unlikely to spend the money swapping to Lily since they are looking for jumps to SR.

    8. Lucarda,

Another deck question for you, currently I am running:

      ATK:
      Infrit 15.3k sk 10
      Infrit 15.3k sk 10
      Infrit 14.9k sk 10
      Hermes 19k sk 3
      Prince 17k

      DEF:
      Apsara 18k Sk 7
      Xuanwu 18k Sk 4
      Hermes 18k sk 3
      Ilmatar 16.7 sk 3
      Ilmatar 16.7 sk 2

As of right now I am in the process of building another Hermes, I currently have a Hermes+ maxed out but I am wondering if I should keep going the Hermes route.

If the Lily's max out at 18k with a big hit to def all and so many being released to the market I could probably pick them up for cheap (15 each) and 6-6 them having them as my wings.

I guess my question is, with the cost of the FF 4-6 Hermes going for 200 for the extra 500 offense?

I am really torn because I know I could use the card on offense and defense which breaks down to 100 HP per card but I dont know if it is the right move.

      Thanks again.

  22. So this event ended up being kinda weird. In reality, it was neither a CW or HP event. It was a free time event. I placed ~4500 spending 2 hp, and those hp were really only for experimentation to see what an mvp reward was like. My feeder account with 90 attack power that I checked half as often got ~12000 spending 0 hp. Getting impact bonuses by just attacking something once was so efficient that if you just did that and kept combo bonuses going on monsters, other people would finish them off and you'd get an absurd amount of shards from those level 300 crystal dragons.

    1. Haha. It's true that just abusing impact bonuses once those crystal dragons came out ensured solid ranks, but it took sooo much time. I wasn't willing to keep checking that often. (That and Marvel's holy war event was going the last four days taking up more of my time).

I prefer to only log on a couple times a day and push. As a result my score wasn't very good. I definitely prefer events where I can log on for 20 minutes, blow 40HP and be done for the day.
