Not so Silent Night

**DISCLAIMER, THIS IS AN EDUCATED GUESS ON THE EVENT TYPE, IT IS VERY WELL POSSIBLE IT COULD BE A QUEST EVENT LIKE TEARS, MY PERSONAL BELIEF THOUGH IS THAT IT WILL BE A RAID EVENT**

Well, tis the season for another event, and this time it will be a stamina/hp event. It appears from the description that this event will follow the format of the Blizzard of the Crystal Castle. My reason for saying this is the words 'Collect as many boxes of toys as you can, and you'll get rewards based on your ranking! you can even get Boss Takedown Rewards and rewards for choosing the right paths!

The takedown rewards and the gathering of presents mirrors the take down rewards and gathering of shards from the Blizzard of the Crystal Castle. Also, since they can introduce new cards for boss damage during these events, they tend to be most profitable for them.

Now for those who don't know the event will follow a simple format.

Quests:
Players will progress through quests and randomly instead of a chest, a boss will spawn. A player is given a certain amount of time to destroy that boss. In this case, Ogre Santa and I'm sure the Wight King will make appearances. Players will receive rewards based on how much damage they do to the boss, these rewards are going to be presents and points. Presents can be traded for cards or items, similar to white/blue/pink/gold shards in Blizzard of the Crystal Castle.

Every five quests players will also have a normal quest boss to deal with. This boss will normally yield rupies and personal clear water or holy powder. Before you reach the boss you will have to choose a path, if you choose correctly you move to the boss, if you choose incorrectly you must go back to the previous quest.

Bosses:
The bosses summoned have varying degrees of health. During the last half of the event I'm sure we'll see the Wight King who will have a very large health pool. Players attack the boss using their attack deck, the more powerful the deck, the more damage. Using event cards with boss damaging skills also increases the overall power of the deck significantly and is very necessary for players who wish to perform well.

Upon taking down the boss, players are rewarded with presents. The presents can then be traded for items. The presents and points you receive are based on: Discovering the monster, damage done to the monster, critical bonuses at 66% and 33%, takedown bonus for killing him, and most damage done. Because of the critical bonuses, it is recommended that you attack every boss that appears at least once since you will be eligible for those bonuses regardless of how much damage you do.

Ranking Highly:
The best way to rank highly is going to be to pick up event cards early. The nice part is if you grab those cards early you can do heavy damage and receive a lot of presents while spending a smaller amount of HP. If this event functions like the previous, HP will be a possible reward from the presents. This means the you can do enough damage you could feasibly cycle through bosses by gaining the HP you spend back in presents.

You can also share cards with members of your orders if you are in different time zones. I know several players that did very well renting out their event cards to players for a few hours who then pounded through bosses to gain shards and points.

Overall though, the best results will be for people who participate heavily. Being on regularly to attack every boss once will yield strong rolling returns.

Odysseus and Zhuque:
If I recall, Odysseus's skill is called Ogre Slayer and he does a big boost to damage against Giants. Much like Ax Masters skill proc'd against Crystal Dragon because he was a dragon, it's fair to assume that Odysseus's skill will proc against Ogres. It might be worth picking up a couple.

Zhuque on the other hand confuses me because he only states that he does additional damage to Wight King in 'the puppet master'. This leads me to believe that he will not do additional damage to the Wight King in this event.

In both cases of these two cards I could be wrong, but given their low current prices, they would be worth picking up before people realize it.

  1. Lucarda, not saying you're wrong, but the evidence points toward this being a questing event. 1. The Japanese version was a questing event. 2. The current card pack ends on the 20th, which is when this event starts. Leaving little room to buy anti-boss card packs. 3. The intro sounds like a questing event. Explore the forest. What is that figure in the distance. Sounds like finding the party host in manor of illusions. I'm just saying this event can go 3 ways. 1. A questing event. 2. A Raid event. 3. Something new

    1. I'll be shocked if it is a questing event.

Blizzard of the Crystal castle had the same type of intro saying: Explore the Crystal Castle in these quests exclusive to the event period! Get Rare Cards!

Blizzard of the Crystal Castle didn't release the cards until the day it started if I recall, so the card argument is pretty mute.

This event description also mentions nothing about battling for treasure, which would be odd to have one where you don't collect treasure.

This one also mentions to cooperate with allies to defeat powerful monsters. Strange line to put in for a non raid event.

    2. I'm not saying it's not possible. I would be shocked to find it to be a quest event instead of a raid event though.

  2. Excuse my newbieness but what does "proc" stand for?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Thanks :) and out of curiosity how on earth do the letters PROC relate to Activate/Trigger? Process? Procure? Procreate?

    1. Hmm... I think it originates from the early days of online games. The programming would use "SPEC_PROC", special procedures, to trigger certain events.

Alternatively, PROC could mean programmed random occurrence, which makes perfect sense.

    2. Hm. Never thought about it. Proc has always meant proc to me. I assume it did come from Programmed random occurrence, but has been around so long that it is just common vernacular to many gamers.

  4. I see. I'm probably wrong. Let's hope it's raid so I can get a Wight King! With 250 hp I should be as to rank top 1k right?

    1. If it goes like the last event I know people who did extremely well by just being regularly active, so I assume 250 HP should be enough to rank highly.

  5. Bit is it you.g to be using your att deck or the using the leader cards of 2 fellows and 2 random order members and yours

  6. I hate my phone.... But is it going to be using your att deck or the style of att where its you and 2fellows and 2 random order members leader cards

  7. This has been bugging me for a while now: Do regular non-event skills function during boss fights, or are they completely disabled?

    1. Completely disabled. If it's non event, it's non existent.

  8. The fact that you can collect treasures makes me assume it is a cw event. And bosses will be taken down like in castle in the sky with 2 fellows and 2 order members. Normally big bosses that spawn you can always request aid from order members, this is not the case right now. Just a thaught, but this is how I feel about it. Further my ax master did not do any more damage to crystal dragons then my inferno, so I do not think the big damage activated, just the medium. So no Odysseus either I assume for this event.

  9. And expect new event cards to be released. If we're lucky it will have an event-skill and a non-event skill just like Sleipnir and Cassiopeia. Which makes those cards not totally worthless after the event.

  10. Hey lucarda. Totally off topic. But Im about to download that new ff game "final fantasy brigade". Heard anything about it?

    1. Well, I believe its Iphone only and I'm anti apple. What I know about it though is the graphics are pretty weak, and the gameplay is only o.k. I have a friend who played it briefly and said he wouldn't recommend it.

    2. I think the card genre needs to go somewhere though. I don't know why they don't apply the card game from Final Fantasy 8 to androids/iphones.

    3. Im using a droid and I just downloaded it now. Im too caught up with building my demonic knight at the moment so maybe after ill have time to test it out.

    4. Just read your second comment. And I definitely agree with you on that. I spent a good amount of time try to collect all those cards back in the day lol

    5. Well, the ever shifting rules of different territories made it always interesting as well. Changed gameplay and kept you on your toes. I just feel that you could still find ways to build and customize cards like we do here, but have it more like a game you play with people when you battle.

  11. Its unfortunate, but I think this game is on it's way down. I saw Ifrits on bazaar today for 4HP. 6-10 sk 10s going for under 100 hp. I mean I bought mine at a steal at 10hp a piece a few months ago and now the card is worthless. I don't know how to stay in front of this, but it seems like the inflation of cards vs HP is out of control. There is a similar drop in Aspara (50%). Card to card your still ok in that you can move around the same area you could before. you just can't ever take your chips off the table. It seems to me like what that does is make it much harder to jump a card class. I'm all HR evod to SR right now, and I'm looking at the jump. I thought when I got here I would building some card to sell and make hp until one at a time I could buy base sr/ssr cards then once I start swapping out my main cards it gets easier because they have inherent value. Unfortunately what card can I build that isn't losing value so fast that buy the time I get it done I don't lose money on it.

I started on a Titan a few weeks ago then quit to get a principality going. Now when I want to go back to the Titan it doesn't look worth it to me. I'm becoming disillusioned with the prospects of becoming top tier in this game. It's unfortunate, but looks to be true.

Aside from that can we just get it out there that Lord Arthur is far and away the best card to come out so far. I heard you can skill it to level 15. Someone in my order did the math, not me, but they said 350k+ attacks if you had multiple.

    1. Matt, this game can be crazy frustrating at times when it comes to buying and selling on the Bazaar but you have to think of it this way.

Think of the buying on the Bazaar (90% of the time) like buying a new car, once you drive it off the lot it instantly loses value and as time goes by they come out with better cars further decreasing the value. But you have to remember that during that time you have the card in your deck helping you make HP and awards through events. Go a month just using the resources that the game gives (personal HP and CW)to participate in events and save your HP up, you will be suprised how much you have from the couple events and going through the quest if you dont spend it.

Yes you can turn and burn cards on the Bazaar but there is always risk involved with that, I was building Apsara's and skilling them to level 10 then selling them making about 80 HP each time but with the new skill changes I probably lost HP building it (but my defense hasnt lost keeping it as my DEF leader, hahahaha).

I think the first thing you need to do is build another acct like Lucarda posted a while back. I would make it a feeder account just dumping all the points into stamina. I have one account with 900 stamina and it is VERY VERY useful in enhancing cards quickly and farming skilled HN's. That way you can buy the cards, build them quicker and sell them before the market can shift.

    2. Blue's got it right. Enhancing and evolving cards for money on the bazaar needs to happen quick to deal with the ever fluctuating market.

Take the new HR demon card that was a reward for the previous event. Right now the market is flooded with unenhanced versions. I looked through the entire list and ended up buying them individually unenhanced to do it myself. Because there are very few unenhanced versions up, you could buy one, flip it for another +5 HP, flip the new one +5 HP, and flip it for a new one +5HP and make 15HP today.

Now, that I posted that as an example of how to make 15HP today though, the market will probably be flooded :)

Gotta keep an eye out for things like that though.

  12. Looks like Lucarda nailed it!

Thanks for the tips. I, being a low level player (lvl 60), went out and bought some Odysseuses like you suggested. They were quite cheap at 2-3HP each and it seemed like an easy way to improve my half rare/ half High rare decks. However, I was surprised to see a large influx of Odysseuses at 2Hp each today in the bazaar, while the norm was 3hps. Are they actually that bad that this event caused a drop in their value?

At 14K/14K they are better than all of my rare cards and at 2HP each they're not that much more expensive so it seems like a good deal to me and the ability definitely makes a difference against event monsters.

So, am I just being naive in thinking it works well for my deck and if so, what's the explanation?

    1. I'm not sure if it's because of the buff. I think the buff is only hitting at the medium boost, so it's equivalent to the rare card. :(

If he was hitting big for giants it would be better.

      Delete
    2. The buff is hitting for giants on santa-clops. I bought ff Ody. that is skill 4. have a base cassioepa also at skill 4. total damage done is the higher for the ody. when the % is the same (500%). This tells me the big boost is hitting. Near as I can tell, this is only hitting on santa-clops, no other bosses atm.

  13. lucarda i'm in a very conflicting situation. so we're a group of very active order tho not that powerful in hws. but we have gotten to rank 220 in this event and crazy guys are pushing for the individual wight king. but then we're surely gonna bust past 200 and get that crap santa. everyone wants their own individual rewards and its like 24 ppl pushing for his own. what shud we do?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So do you mean that the santaclops has less value than 2 premium CP claim tickets (which, if I looked up correctly, is the prize you would get instead)? I mostly open up rares with those so I would have expected the santaclops to be worth more than that.

      Delete
    2. If you all push on your own, you will still achieve decent rankings as a team. The Order gets full points in all scenarios.

The only way to do REALLY well as a group would be to pool resources to buy the best raid cards and share them. But realistically that would be extremely expensive and take a lot of coordination and trust.

    3. Gabo if i'm not wrong santas only a pwr 15 card, which makes it have an atk even less than centaur knight. the only thing that makes it worth is the skill. i expect them to be about 2-4hp each coz minotaurs are selling at 5-7. on the other hand, u may get surprises from card packs.so aside from the 2 hps from card packs, u also get 2 unknown cards which does have a chance of being high valued. in the end we have 32 members and thats 64 card packs. kinda difficult to not get something good. on the other hand santas will always only give us about 100 hp total profit. so in the end card pack wins.

P.S. Gabo i'm also a lv 62~ could u give me ur ign?

Btw thanks lucarda for your advice.

  14. I am becoming an event specialist. I had two Odysseus++ and one Zhuque++ during the last event and the damage to the monsters were equal even though Odysseus says medium boost and Zhuque says small boost. This time both Zhuque and Odysseus are fully evolved and Matured but just 1/10. The frequency of the special and the level of the special is the same as both of them and the ++ level. The only difference is the power of the natural hit.

    1. I need some help with this event... So I was create a deck 1 FF Santa Helper, 1 2nd Evo SH & 3 base SH's. the FF cost me about 115 HP, I've dedicated all of my HP to this event in hopes to achieve top 100 which should benefit me by doubling how much I've put into it. All this talk about Zhuque & Odysseus, am I better off selling my Santa Helpers and making a full deck of Zhuques or Odysseus' ??

      Delete
    2. I wouldn't. There is no evidence that Zhuque will and in fact I think it's likely not to since his ability has the modifier 'during puppet master'.

  15. Extra info: during 500% boost my Santa helpers deck hits about 800-900k, without the combo boost it hits around 350k

  16. Is wight king likely to be a valuable reward or is it top 800 or bust?
Still think they are going to unleash an uber-boss on us?

  17. Should I be doing mass amounts of damage to a few bosses or spread my attacks out to some damage to a lot of bosses? Don't know they best way to do well in these types of events

    1. I generally spread as long as they still go down. The critical bonuses add up.
