Holy War Prep

Honestly, this post may seem like quite a bit of common sense, but you would be surprised how many people don't prepare for Holy Wars properly. This post will be short, it will also be blunt.

1) Stop buying damn cards for your deck and save your damn HP. You think that adding that 5k damage/defense to your deck is more important than having HP to spend during HW? If your deck isn't up to par yet, tough luck, attack weaker opponents. One card probe peoples defense before attacking. What you don't do is leave yourself with thirty damn HP right before HW you anchor.

*If you are a new player and 30HP is a lot for you, it's understandable*

2) Liquidate. Do you think getting HP for your cards is hard now? Who do you think is buying during HW? Not people paying a premium I assure you of that. If you can't get HP for them, get CW for them and trade CW for HP.

3) Know how Holy Wars work. With all the damn information out there, there is no reason for you not to know how Holy Wars work. I don't care if you're new, you should still know when it is and isn't alright to start a battle and not to attack players before the wall is down because you lower their point value. You sure as hell shouldn't start a battle if your defense leader has no points from the last war. (Happened 3x to my order in marvel war of heroes when some asshat would declare with our defense lead at 30 points)

4) Have your orders full. You don't get bonus points for having open slots.

This has been a short post on prepping for Holy Wars. Pay particular attention to point number one. Good luck and have fun!

  1. So... Wall first or a free for all?

    1. Have a few people or one really good person on wall while everyone else concentrates on d leader. Once d leader down, go all out. But if d leader is down, and the wall is up, always concentrate on getting wall before attacking any other memebers of opposing order. Points will be halved otherwise.

    2. Wall first. Always. Wall breakers are too easy to come by and double points per attack adds up fast.

  2. Hey lucarda. I just had my account suspended for supposedly being associated with a player who sells items for cash. So now im stuck with my man alt which can only so 2hits per hp and has only 90 def points. My cousin can let me borrow his 90k deck during hw when he isnt in a war so I can use that if anything. Anyway, the only good thing about the suspension was that my hp was in my feeder account because I was buying n selling on them. I have about 400-500 hp now from all the buy/sell and idk what I should do. Should I invest most of it during hw when my alt gets the deck or should I wait it out and just buy cards when they go for cheap during hw?

    1. I'm sorry to hear that, tough luck. I suspect we will see this happening a lot more in the future. Now that people have a lot of go-betweens in trading there are several 1 rupie trades that probably flag Mobage.

I would use it to rank well. High ranks will help you replenish faster. After Holy War there should be a lot of card packs that you can spend leftover HP on.

    2. Im very happy now. After constant emails i managed to get my account back. Lizzy from mobage relations is the best! Anyway thanks for the advice. And these holy war prizes suck hard. Perhaps they are trying to get everybody off the game and into Marvel lol.

Thanks again lucarda. And i have made a marvel account during my time of suspension and have used your code since you are so great for helping everybody with the game. Its ok but im more into the anime vibe that rage brings. Even if they are slacking.

  3. Quick couple of basic q's:

I've got 3 FF Ares, should I just use those 3 cards as a Wallbreaker deck & therefore get more attacks at the wall, or should I add 2 wing cards in as well?

Should Principality go in as leader slot for HW deck, thereby reducing the boost to deck attack power if it's the only card that activates?

Many thanks in advance, great blog!

    1. I was having this same conversation last night. I too have three ff ares, and have been using a fp and trow elf as wings. But an order member who has been around since the start and has been part of a top 20 order claimed that there is no adavantage in having more than the three wallbreaker cards in your deck. The boosts that you get from them in the 123 slots will be more than or equal to the boosts you would get from the wing cards. Also, the effect of that extra attack or two will carry further, especially as there is an addition 5 atk points used for each hit on a wall. I could get four atks with a full deck, but will be over 7 with just the ares. However, build a deck with each, and see what works best for you. You can always increase priority of the one that does best for you.

In regards to princy...the ONLY way you will get hw points boost from princy every atk is to have it in the #1 slot. If you use it as wing, it may not proc, thus negating its usefulness. I have a skill 10 princy as center card, then raised the skill on three sword valks and trow to ten. (skilling fp is much more difficult, hence skilling srs instead of ssrs). You will find that most opponents will still not be able to withstand that atk, and you will get the automatic points boost from princy every atk.

      Hope this has helped!

    2. I always recommend point cards in the leader spot otherwise you miss a lot of procs.

For wall breaker decks there are mixed reviews. A lot of people claim that using three of them work great, I wonder why they don't just use one of them then?

Theoretically using One WallBreaker will ensure 100% proc every time, and since buffs are additive, it makes much more sense.

I suggest full decks myself because generally your wings have higher base damage so when the damage modifier is still based off of base damage.

Overall, I'm not sure which one in the end is better for wall breakers because I don't know the modifiers. But if using only 3 makes sense, using 1 makes the most sense.

    3. Hi Lucarda, great blog as always. About wall breakers, I've been building a wall breaker deck myself and was able to test it out during the last HW.

Back then, my deck consists of 4 base Master Gunners (max enhanced) and a FF Astolfo. I've noticed the following:
1 proc = 3.1k damage to the wall.
      2 proc = 3.5k damage
      3 proc = 3.9k damage

When I revert back to using my MAN attack deck which was back then at 50k base damage, I was only able to do 1.5k-1.9k damage even with medium or big boost to MAN ATK.

So I guess any buffs other than wallbreaker buff makes no difference (or not much).

I still have 4 Master gunners in my deck but I'm wondering if having 4 will be redundant as only max 3 will proc or will it increase my chances of having 3 wallbreaker buffs to proc?

      Delete
    4. If that's the case Phuah, it seems to me that using 1 wall breaker would be the wisest choice. Why use twice the Attack Power to only do 400 more damage?

It seems silly that its taken us all this long to realize it.

      Delete
    5. I guess you are right. However, out of curiosity, I will test out a deck with 1 wall breaker and a deck with a few wall breakers just to see the difference.

      Will keep you posted.

    6. I disagree with Phuah, I built and utilized 5 mythril golems last holy war. 4 were 4-7 ff and last one I hadn't finished and just got it to Mythril Golem+. The main 3 golem were skill 10, 5 and 5. When I got center proc alone I hit for about 3500, 2nd proc boosted to about 5000 and if all top 3 proced I was doing 6500 in damage. I even tried jus attacking with 1 golem by itself. It was pretty dismall as I remember doing a little under 1000 if Im remembering right. In any case I want to thank you for your wonderful posts and information. You've made this game much more fun for me with the wisdom you impart. Good luck this Holy War- Joel

    7. Is this from 1 attack? if so, with 5 att from 1 golem, it will be ~5k damage, equivalent to 2 procs in 5 golem desk. That is pretty good consider you only need 1 card.

      Delete
    8. Joel for your information, all my Master gunners were base level and skill level 1. I was not able to test out with skills level 10. Thanks for the info, it never crossed my mind to skill up master gunners. Now I will do that!

    9. DcroW, the problem with that stategy is the +5 attack points each attack and the time it takes to run all those attacks at your enemy. The name of the game in Wallbusting is do it hard and do it fast so you can move on to def then rack up the points before your enemy can do the same. If you can get enough lead over your enemy they theorhetically will stop attacking because if two orders are close in match up its a loosing proposition to try to play catch up. You spend tons of HP and even if you do win you now increase in ranking and Holy War points thus insuring you battle even tougher opponents and now with much less HP than you had before. Good luck!

  4. Lucarda dun know if you know this but its worth asking anyway. If we got about 20 actives and atk pwr ranging from 55k to 90k base what rank would we be going for if there are say 25 actives and each spends 10 hp with the 3 leaders spending 150 hp? Also having a a def leader of 150k def. Just an estimation is OK coz i wanna advertise that in the game. If you think this is advertising you could remove it but have a guess at our rank? (we got #1300 last time with 5 actives, of coz they're the ones hitting the biggest)

    1. Hm. It's really tough to say. Honestly the game is getting more and more competitive. I've personally been spending quite a bit more to retain my rank.

I believe you could be top 800 but I'm not sure. What I would recommend is to limit the amount you win by. Try to win by as little as possible during battles to ensure your point ranking is low and you get pitted against weaker orders.

  5. "One card probe peoples defense before attacking.."

Do you really probe before every attack in a HW? Probing the defense leader makes sense... but once he's down you still probe each member you attack?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh god no. I don't probe anybody. That's for people who's attack points/attack is so low they actually worry about losing.

    2. Haha, ok good, thanks for the clarification.

I'm hitting at around 120-130K (after boosts) with my HW deck (I've been testing it)... since this is my first HW as a competitive player, I'm wondering how likely is it that I will be able to take out most def leaders?

      Delete
    3. you won't be atking out ours, andwe are a rank 1000 order...

      Delete
    4. Not likely for any of them I face against. But I myself don't take out defense leaders. I myself can't take down most defense leaders and I do similar damage.

      Delete
    5. What is your orders DEF leader boasting? (If you don't mind my asking.. not like I know your order, not to mention the likelihood of getting matched up is miniscule...)

The difficulty with being an attack leader is that you need to put a HW point booster in slot 1 and are hitting decks that (most often) have all DEF boosting cards rather than "wasting" a slot on a Princi etc.

  6. hey hey hey. will you jump on line at some point? we have some new people and we are trying to figure out how much hp collectively we have as a whole to determine the best course of action during the war. also dont forget the ff pirate as lead card for this holy war.

    1. Yeah, I have him set. I'll pop on line tomorrow probably, and I'll be on for virtually the entire HW.

I have roughly 350HP at the moment. My alts order crumbled since most of the good members were recruited into top 100s and the guys were pissed they hit over 300 last HW. So I'll send his 60ish HP I was planning on using on him to my main as well if I get spend happy. Oh, I also have about 85 Personal HP to spend.

Overall my intention is to spend all 85 of my personal HP and probably 150 of my stock. If our ranking is close to a point where I think we can push over, I'll blow more.

    2. k we have a plan so be sure to read the strategy guide on the board chat. we are going to use different ones at different times so we can get our 40+ wins and not be taking on the top orders til the last 2 days. we have about 9-10000 hp between us all.

      Delete
    3. Gotcha. Thanks for keepin me in the loop Duaxis.

    4. Sorry got to clarify this.... do you have an order member with 10000 hp???

      Delete
    5. We probably have a couple with that. I've never spent a dime on the game and I have 450ish. If I liquidated my alt accounts cards I would have over 1000.

  7. hm... Lucarda i'm here to provide you with an update with my order and ask for further advice. We are at about rank 1000 now and the attack leaders have used maybe 20 hps. shud we try to go further up and burn more hps or shud we remain low like abt 2000 until the last day and burn all our hp in that very last day? coz we have quite a lot of weaker players as opposed to the enemy and our strategy till now is blitzing.

    1. My view is to try to win every match for the win bonus but try to win by very little. Since matchups are based on point totals, it makes sense to keep points low for easy wins.

  8. Hi Lucarda, great blog!

Can you put in numbers how its profitable to use so many HPs per person in a Holy War? What do you have to rank at and win to get back more than what you spent?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is it just me, or do rewards really suck this time around? Seems it would be difficult to be profitable.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I was thinking the same thing.

    2. The rewards are HORRIBLE!!! I honestly love playing this game but it seemed like 6 months since the last HW and we waited all this time for this??? What a bummer, well I guess the rich just get richer but so is life.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, except for top ranks the rewards are kind of bunk. I believe they moved away from really high good rewards since they added the win rewards.

All things considered, it's a bit equalized, the major issue is the ever increasing amount of HP needed to hit those ranks with very little prize changes to account for the inflation.

      Delete
    4. We got our 10 wins and quit. Enough said. All these events are only profitable if you do the bare minimum (they may be at the top, I have no idea though). RoB has a problem when that's the case. There's zero incentive to buy cards for these events for all but the diehard upper upper level players.

      Delete
  10. I'm in a very low level order (one level 100, a couple of 60 and mostly 50 or less) so our wars are probably very different from what you describe here. It seems that its not worth it trying to bring down the walls because it takes too long with the cards we have and it also seems that we will probably be using far more HPs than we will be winning. Should we just sit it out? if so, what would be the level at which its worth participating?

One issue we have had is that if their DEF guy is too tough, we just can't bring him down. We were under the assumption that you could just attack them with a low level deck (say 2 PW) repeatedly and that it would bring down their DEF, but even against seemingly inactive DEF leaders, it doesn't change their deck at all. Are we doing something wrong?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You need an atk deck that utilizes 50 atk power or more to decrease 10 points from the def leader. for example... Claymore is 25 power, use 2 of those, and each atk will remove 10 points.

      Delete
    2. hey gabo if ur a very active player we'll have you in our order. we normally blitz lv 100+s happily coz we got a lot of actives willing to spend a couple of hps.

      Delete
    3. Thanks for the invite Ng. However, I'm only just hitting level 53 (I only started a couple of weeks ago, just after the Crystal Castle event had started) so I'm not sure I would fit in your order which seems much higher level.

I'm very active and enthusiastic and I literally am on it all day long because I can take a few minutes every hour or 2 at work (more if necessary) and at night I have to take care of a baby every 2 hours.

In any case, the order that took me in was very kind to me when I just started so I want to stay with them and help them build up a bit. If I see it as a lost cause I may eventually look for something more in my competitive style of play.

  11. now we're in a statemale. when we drop to 1800 rank we win a hw and advance to 1300. then we hv to fight reli hard and sometimes we lose. shud we wait till we drop back to declare another war?

    1. I also maintain for low ranking orders to keep fighting. Waiting to drop down costs you the points you could be earning.

      Delete
  12. It appears to be so that the +HWP boosts need to proc in order for them to work. If i remember correctly it was previously perfectly ok to have 'm in slot 5 of your deck, now you actually need them to proc in order to get additional points.

    Anyone else experiencing that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's always needed to proc to get the bonus. If you were getting proc's from slot five you were getting lucky.

  13. I was wondering what your advice was on buying guys for wallbreaking. I thought read earlier that you suggest 3 wallbreakers like Ares or so, but I want to know is it worth spending the HP on one 9 to 10 Skill level Ares, for example, or buying a few cheaper Ares with Skill levels between 2 to 4?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ideally you want that wall down very fast. Technically using a single Ares and attacking over and over again would be fine.
